Need Help Choosing Blue Paint
Hello folks, It is coming close to the time to send the Camaro off for paint. I was hoping to see some pics and/or thoughts on a blue color to go with... I have been leaning towards the WA8751 from the 86-87 Camaros, but would like some feedback. From the few pics I can find of that paint code it seems to be a heavy metallic blue a little on the briter side... am I correct? Looking through paint chips in the PPG catalogs is mind numbing and the tiny one inch chip doesnt show you much. So, please post up whatcha got and give your feedback.

Re: Need Help Choosing Blue Paint
if you want to stay stock(ish) go with Ultra Blue Metallic or Medium Quasar Blue
if you want to go crazy go with a cobalt blue (or something similar) from House Of Color; http://www.houseofkolor.com/speedsha...es_shimrin.jsp

Re: Need Help Choosing Blue Paint
I'll have to look in my console to get the paint code, but this is mine. Its the bright blue metallic from 1990. Personally I love the color, there's a lot of metal flake in it that you can see up close. Unfortunately I don't have any better or newer pictures of it on this computer..
Re: Need Help Choosing Blue Paint
Electron Blue is by FAR the nicest blue you will find. Nothing but compliments on the color selection at every show I've been to. Considering I don't enter my car, as it sits in the parking lot outside of the show that says something. Always get someone asking what color...

Re: Need Help Choosing Blue Paint
I have seen the electron blue, and yes its nice, but just a bit dark for my taste.... I have been strongly looking at the 86-87 camaro Bright Blue Metallic WA8751, but didnt know if its a bright color or not as its impossible to see one other than pictures....

Re: Need Help Choosing Blue Paint
My two favorite blues are Lemans blue, as well as Monte Carlo Blue.
Paint I saw a few years ago at a meet, the guy said it was called deep double blue. Dont know who makes it and cant get a picture but, I would say that is my all time favorite blue.

Re: Need Help Choosing Blue Paint
GM Code 23U Maui Blue Metallic (WA9537 IIRC, I believe in 1990 it was called maui Blue Metallic when on Firebirds, but Light Blue Metallic when used on Camaros). Factory color:

Re: Need Help Choosing Blue Paint
Like are there big differences in the Medium blue metallic, quasar blue, ultra blue, or are they similar?
Re: Need Help Choosing Blue Paint
I really think Jetstream Blue looks amazing on a third gen. Jetstream or Nassau from the 97-00 C5's which is similar.
This is 08 Jetstream on an Iroc.
If you want a great blue, that is on the cheaper side, looks very similar to both Camaro Bright Blue metallic(86-91) and Quazar(92), but has a more finer pearl type metallic flake, look into Arrival Blue Metallic that was on the 05-06 Cobalts .

Unfortunately its really hard to capture the sweetness of both those colors in a pic.

Re: Need Help Choosing Blue Paint
Although any blue is an uncommon color for 3rd gens, I'll put a plug in for Medium Quasar Blue Metallic (code 80U or WA9544). It was new for '92 and available on both F-bodies and the 'Vettes. It has nice 'flake' without looking like a bass boat and can be subtly bright or richly deep depending on what lighting it is seen in.

Re: Need Help Choosing Blue Paint
BMWs new Atlantis Blue. GM made an Atlantis Blue in the 70s that is a bit lighter but looks just as good.

The shade of blue that was on the 09 ZR-1, don't remember the name.

Or I would go with Maui Blue.

Re: Need Help Choosing Blue Paint
I believe the medium quasar blue from 1992 is a few shades brighter than the ultra blue metallic in 1991 and other similar blues from Iroc-z's. I had a mqb 92 RS a few months ago and it was definitely brighter.

I replied but I was'nt logged on so I dont know if you got it or not.I think the maui blue you've got posted above. It looks like its got a green tint clear coat over it.Personally paint is easy for me.You can paint a motorcycle any color you want as long as its black. The team I drove for painted all their cars white. So my bikes are all black yadayada.panhead201
