I agree, those hoods look really good, and they're not as common as the other stock hoods, which is also good IMO.

I am kinda starting to like the small cowl hoods on firebirds. Dont have a pic, but I came across one @ a junkyard for 100 bucks, and now regret everyday not picking it up.
Is that a good price for a fiberglass hood in good shape???
Anyway ... here's a link to a pic of my 88 Formula's Hood. Sorry i dont know how to post pics yet.

#1 Id say the 82-84 T/A, 87-92 Formulas hood (like the one pictured above)
#2 A small cowl hood. My 83 has a 3" cowl and I love it. (cant really see anything from inside, but oh-well)
#3 93-97 RamAir style hood.
#4 I also like the 85-92 T/A style hood, thats pretty nice too.

Four TransAm's are not enough. Firebirds for all.

There was/is a company which makes a fiberglass variation of the formula tear drop hood. Theirs had the tear in the center and go from where original tear was all the way to the passenger side of the car. Unfortuantely I lost their name and number, but I saw it on this site so when I get a chance I'll do a search and find it again.

I was never a fan of the Tear-drop hoods either until I owned one. Now I love em.
Heres a pic of my old car (My red one's in the background). Put a TA hood and new quarter panel after my dad went head-on with a deer. As you can see the hood used to be red. Hopefully will be painted soon.
Lets hope this works ... Z

I would go with my hood....the functional tear drop hood. It is definitely my favorite...and my car is the only one around with it. My hood is like the "ram air" of the 80's. It looks great on my car...especially since it has the '85-'90 Trans am front end on it...which makes it look so much meaner than that ugly vented '83 front end originally on it...no offense to anybody with an '82-'84 with that style front end...just not me. Well...good luck trying to find one...I was actually going to sell mine because I was going to get rid of my TA for an '89 GTA. If I get a good offer maybe I will get rid of it...but chances are I will sell my car with another hood on it...and keep my tear drop hood or "power bulge" hood and put it on my next car.
Cool Runner.....I know the hood that you are talking about. My neighbor has it on thier '83 Trans am....but I dont really like it that much. They crashed thier car up though...but the hood can be fixed...since it isnt that bad. I doesnt compare to the tear drop hood. I wish I could get pics of it...but I dont have a digital camera.

When I first saw my car, I thought... "don't that look mean?" Now I look at my car and I think "don't that look mean?"
I have to put in a vote for the power bulge.

I deffinietly like the power buldge hood. I saw somewhere that made a hood with instead of one tear-drop on the driver's side, there were two. One on the passengers side to equal things out. I thought it looked pretty good. I also like the ram air II hoods, theyre real mean looking.
