I bought the kit and it has well paid for its self and some extra cash for me now It takes about 4 hours to do a whole car with prices ranging from 400-800 im talking about 800 for like big @$$ trucks haha go for it watch the youtube videos dipmycar.

Re: The Plasti Dip Thread!
I plasti dipped my grille and head light buckets. I also painted some GS stripes on which I liked.
Before, Too much red.
One bucket dipped and dipped grille and I painted the bowtie gloss. I dipped the other bucket but dont have any pictures.
Came out a bit too texturized so I peeled the buckets off. I gotta get them painted semi-gloss.
GS Stripes
I ran those for a couple of weeks and loved them. However I felt it didn't match the theme of the car, yet.

Re: The Plasti Dip Thread!
About how many cans of plasti-dip would be needed to do head light buckets and a hood?

Was body colored before, now Plasti-Dipped. I think I did 3 fairly heavy coats. Held up darn well after 3 weeks and lots of highway driving.

i did my rims, skirts, and hood. it holds up great. i recommend using glossifier if you do it though. it gives it depth and allows it to hold up better.

Re: The Plasti Dip Thread!
Just spent 60+ hours prepping my car for paint. Finally laid it down tonight. thread and pics of to my knowledge first Carbon Flash Metallic thirdgen to follow later this week....
DONT DO WHAT I DID WITH PLASTIDIP....I primed parts of my car 4 years ago and sanded it all down to get a cheap paint job...real basic scuff prep job....never paint it PLASSTIDIPPED THE WHOLE CAR with spray cans back before those damn kits were available to do it right.
not only did i not use enough plastidip it was over scuffed paint/primer....IT WOULD NOT COME OFF...took the car to be painted by some hillbillies....well after fighting with it for so long they just painted over it and screwed the paint all up so i took it back and decided to do it myself...
60+ hours later hillbilly paint job is off the car, plasti dip is finally removed, and new primer and paint has been laid down on 90% of the car....
USE PLASTI DIP over already painted vehicles and lay down ALOT dont skimp on it....just sayin

Re: The Plasti Dip Thread!
I bought some "anthracite" plastidip from the dipyourcar.com people... It's actually got metal flake in it. Pretty neat. Was hoping itw as a little closer to competition gray, but it's hard to tell, maybe it is about the same.
Of course, the hood and headlight buckets are plastidip too so you can see how this color compares to the regular black stuff.

Got any pictures of your car with the stock color SS wheels on?

Re: The Plasti Dip Thread!
Nope! None! I was going for a look somewhat like BIG_MODS' car. I actually just love competition gray, and I figured it would look good on ZR1's. I think it will look a bit like that when it's done, but it'll be a few months as I've got christmas expenses and $1000 worth of rubber and spacers to invest in before they can go on the car.

Re: The Plasti Dip Thread!
I was actually going to go Bronze, just because it's not a very common sight on domestic muscle cars.
You see it a lot on imports (european or asian)... and I think it looks great. It was a common color combo for Ferrari during the 60s and 70's too.
And plastidip sells "vintage gold". I think it's a little too yellow and not enough bronze... but it MIGHT look REALLY good. I dont know. I got a lot of "yeurgh..... no" responses, but I think if they saw it on teh car they'd be impressed.
Vintage gold plastidip:
I went with anthracite because competition gray was my first love.
