The Plasti Dip Thread!
Post pictures of what you have done with Plasti Dip. I saw a thread on Ls1tech, and figured there must be people using it here...
When I go home on leave, I am going to spray my 10 spoke SS wheels to see how they look on my Formy. I eventually want to spray them charcoal to match the 2 tone on my car. Black is close and will be a good test to see how they look, AND it can be easily removed!!!

Re: The Plasti Dip Thread!
Why the taillights and markers?

I'd really like to see this for paint protection benifits as Bullydawg stated!
Re: The Plasti Dip Thread!
The thing about plasti dip you can see the lights through it. You can see the brake light and all that. In the day time I like the look of the lights blacked out

Re: The Plasti Dip Thread!
On the lights will the plasti-dip lay down smooth enough to look half way decent? Seems like it would be heard to get an even smooth texture, so why would you not spray tint lenses? Unless your peeling it off often.

Re: The Plasti Dip Thread!
That looks better than I imagined. I think that it would work well if you were going for a matte black theme with the car. I would rather have a gloss look though.

I'm 50/50 on those GTA wheels. Looks ok when there's sunlight on them, but in a shadow they look too much like steelies or spares.

Re: The Plasti Dip Thread!
Would you call that finish a matte or a satin type finish? Does it seems to clean up ok when brake dust gets on it?

Re: The Plasti Dip Thread!
More of a matte finish. I'd actually have to say it cleans easier now than before the Plasti Dip. All I have to do is take a soapy rag to it and rinse it off and it comes clean very easily.

I have used Plasti dip on car badges and it holds up well, no prep besides a whipe down. I love Plasti dip

Re: The Plasti Dip Thread!
Does anyone know what the finish is on the clear Plasti-dip? Satin, matte, or gloss?

Re: The Plasti Dip Thread!
It's a matte finish. They make a product called Plasti-Dip Glossifier which can be sprayed over it to make it shiny. One or two coats make it satin, more can take it pretty close to gloss finish.

Re: The Plasti Dip Thread!
exactly. It comes off, but with a lot of effort. And on a pain in the as$ rim like a GTA wheel you will rather buy new rims instead of peel off the plasti dip.

Anyone try to paint your rear quarter with the clear plasti dip for the track? I completely forgot to try, when I was home on leave. Next time I see the car it will be repainted.

Re: The Plasti Dip Thread!
I wanna see a plastidipped car, entire third gen come on someone do it.. dipyourcar has the kits for 3XX something.. i'm tempted but my car is literally in a billion pieces
Re: The Plasti Dip Thread!
You have to put enough coats on, otherwise it doesn't come off easy. I have done lots of grills, wheels etc for people and found one light dusting coat, one moderate coat and 3 almost 'wet' coats, with 10-15 minutes between gives a good strong even coat and makes it peel off cleanly. I did my wiper arms 6 months ago and my hatch trim as well and they hold up fine. They even look new! If you go too heavy with one coat, it wrinkles and causes problems.

Re: The Plasti Dip Thread!
I did my wheels last summer, and it's been holding up great.
The clearcoat on my wheels looked horrible and discolored, and there was some slight curb rash on them.
4 cans and a afternoon, and they turned out really good.
I get so many compliments on the wheels, I'm actually shocked by how many people say how great they look.

The best part, if I get tired of it. I can just peel it off.

DBLTKE- car looks wicked man! Love the wheel choice too
Another with plasti-dipped 10 spokes, wish it were lower.

I didn't... I planned on using it and the gunmetal but I liked the temporary flat black look enough to lose motivation haha. there's a good comparison in this thread though:
