Check out this 1982 Z28

I was on YouTube and found this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUYDr...e_gdata_player The guy is showing his personal car, and I think he has a great car but for a new motor it doesn't have as much power as I think it should. My stock 2.8 can do a better burn out then his "V8". Tell me what you think.

Re: Check out this 1982 Z28

It's a 350. Tastefully done car overall. Pretty cool to see an early Third Gen Z28 get some attention since most of the focus is usually on the IROC-Zs and 90s Z28s. All of the positive comments on the video are nice also, even from Mustang and Corvette owners.....

I don't think he was trying. Wide summer tires cost a lot more than junkyard 215s. I wouldn't be smoking them to the max either, burnouts are pretty stupid the more you think about it.

In the video he says its the 290 hp GM crate 350. That car must be an absolute blast to drive with the t-56 and full suspension. And i agree with puma, tires get expensive.

Did he say 350? I never heard that but I am on my phone, that's probably why now I feel dumb for thinking a 305

Not what I would've gone with. I've heard these are pretty crappy.

Otherwise, That's a really nice car. I really like the early Z28s, more than the 85-92 cars. His looks very well done on the outside.

I hope to pick up an 82-84 Z in a year or so, providing the prices don't skyrocket for a good one.

I took the liberty of obtaining a copy from the local library and taking pics with a high res camera. Weird how the car is a different color on the cover.

Re: Check out this 1982 Z28

That GM Goodwrench 290hp engine is Im pretty sure just the 70s era phone company van replacement low compression (8.5:1) smogger head 350 with a slightly bigger flat tappet cam in it. Rated at 290 gross flywheel horsepower with no accessories, headers, big carb etc.

But he pretty much acknowledges the engine isnt really the point of the car. That's why he has a T56 with 4.10's to give that engine some leverage. I love the car myself, very cool ride.
