What do you guys think of my 1987 Trans AM? I custom made the hood on it. Ill be posting more pics when its nice outside. The fin is also custom made. Opinions?

Dude there are a lot of people on this web site that will post sh*t about your car because it is not a pristine example of what they think a third generation should be!!!

I am going to start off by saying that I am a firm believer in that it is your car and you can do whatever you like to make the car more desireable to for you.

That being said I personally do not like it all. But since you asked for my opinion...

I think it is the text book example of trailer park third gen.

 

to each his own. But that would not be me...that's for sure.
When ppl say they want something one of a kind....I think that one is all yours!

 

Kudos to you for doing something unique yourself.

However, i do not like anything about it besides that.

 

Funny thing seeing your car. Today while driving I saw a Formula with the same color scheme, yellow with black racing stripes. It also had a custom spoiler that stuck up about 2 feet in the air, and the hood had the stick on ram air nostrils.

Not a fan, but it's good to see something different. Do you have more pictures of your spoiler/fin?

 

Bad paint scheme, white trash cragar wheels, terrible hood, bad spoiler......
I'm all for being unique but 99% of the normal car community will say nothing but horrible things about your car. It is just in bad taste in every aspect.

Though I am not a fan of yellow the general paint scheme is otherwise matching the car. I would like a better picture of the rear spoiler as that looks like it might be very interesting. As with most people here I am not a fan of that hood, to me it screams MOPAR. However I never liked that style T/A hood anyways.
I say do what works for you and do not necessarily mind us though.

"Trans Am", not "Trans AM". All capitals = an acronym that doesn't exist.

The hood is horrible, but the colors are interesting as is the wing. Off center plate is kinda odd....

 

I agree, the hood looks like a riced out R35 hood.

Yeah I don't think he is coming back. Its a little bit of a shame....I wanted to know how much horsepower that spoiler added!!!

 

I hope we did not scare him off because he did do what looked like a good job on the hood even if I am not a fan of it. I would like to see pics of the back because I still think that rear fin is interesting.

I know I am still a ways from it but I have to wonder what people will say about my car when I get it done. I have broad shoulders and am not really worried about whether others like it or not. It will suit me though.

 

Yeah I'm going to post pics of mine when it is done and deal with the pain also. I am just restoring to original, so no custom touches on mine.

Welcome jhuebner I well apologize for the way you where treated on this forum. Glad you are still here and I am getting to like your car the more I look at it. It is one of a kind like every ones car on here. Hope to see you posting more especially if you have any problems you need help with.

you cant stop it man, anything you do to your someone is going to think its *******. hell like i said people hate mine because of the body mods iv made myself, like putting an iroc hood, z28 wheels, and a base firebird spoiler on my car. some like it, some hate it and disaprove it but most people dislike my car because its a sport coupe and a bottom line coupe. oh well. its mine. but like i said OP good job, it looks really good and as long as your happy thats all that matters, honestly to me its looks like a ford gt if you look at it the right way lol. just the way its styled and the strips i think. either way i like it

Ya, thats where i got it from. The only reason i put it on is because i bought the car for $900 and it was a roller at the time and on the hood in the center where that now is it was rusted through so i fixed it and put that on.

I respect peoples work when done right and if you did the hood right then good job. Sorry your car is not my style at all, but you workd hard on it so kudo's. I just Monstalined the whole body of my truck and took alot of heat for it from my friends and fam, but now that it's done the ones that have seen it love it. You have to do what works for you. My TA will always be the stock colors, stock looking body, hell stock wheels, but that's how I like her.

 

Only thing that bothers me, the headlight trim isnt black... Other than that good job on your build. And i really want a better pic of that spoiler.

 

Yeah the headlight trim being yellow does look off. There is a differant post from the OP about painting the car and he said he has up to $4k to spend so I think he can get this car look very sweet if done right.
