Nice work. I'm actually thinking about buying all the equipment that you use at your shop. The Buffer, the wheels, compounds whole nine yards and doing it, I just can't get over shiny stuff.

No I dont have any pics of this rim on a car. This was a test rim that I got from the j/y.I'm thinking of getting a set of 15s,or 16s and polishing them.

I polished mine, but I didn't do a great job... it still made the car look a million times better.

Step 1:Grind off casting texture with die grinder and emery barrels.

Step 2:Sand with 320

Step 3: Sand with 400

Step 4: Sand with 600

Step 5: Use Eagle One aluminum polish and a felt wheel on a die grinder.

This is the only decent pic I have of it... it's the darker red one:

I have a set of polished 15 x 7's and a set of Polished 85-88 iroc's. I switch back and forth between the two. It's like having two different cars.

What all is involved in polishing wheels? I have a set of 15X7 standard firebird wheels and I would love to polish them like that. What do I need to buy/do? How long does it take?

I'm using some kind of chemical compound,I dont know what its called but it costs 1$ a pound.I get it form work.My polishing wheels eat that polishing compound right up.Many other people use some wheel polish, and a dremel tool.Like Black_widdow said he polished his wheels 4 or 5 times and they arent as shinny as mine.I did it once and its shinny. I also did my plenum and progamed a special emblem for it. heres the pic of it

I used some stuff I found arouond the house called Royal Blue(?). It says it's for polishing aluminum and mag wheels. I put on another 3 or 4 coats today and it still isn't extremely shiny, better than it was though. For now I'm just doing the silver parts and not the painted areas. I'm going to try using some Mother's wheel poilsh. What else can I do?

I polished my wheels with one of those wire wheels you put on a drill to get the paint and casting finish off, and then I put a rag over the smallest wire wheel I have and polished away with mothers aluminum polish. They look about 100X better, kind of similar to johnnyIROC's wheels and it only took about 6 hours for all 4. They're not absolutely perfect, but they look really good for the amount of time I spent on it.

85sportcoupe....

is there any way you could find out the type of polishing compound you used and the steps invloved. That rim looks amazing and i would love to have something like that to do while at school. That was a regular old z-28 aluminum rim before you started, correct?

Thanks
