Oh the things you can find on craigslist

So a few months back I was scrolling through Camaro parts on craigslist as I always do when I come up on a set of 2010 Camaro 18" heritage wheel new take-offs. I thought they seemed cool but the guy was asking $400 for the set. So I scrolled on. Fast forward to two days ago and I'm on craigslist again and I see the same ad. However this time it says $80 for the asking price, so I scroll through it. I looked through the pictures and the description and decided to meet up with the guy and get them. When I meet with him the wheels were all straight and new like he said and they came with the trim rings, center caps, tpms sensors, and all the lug nuts too. So lets just say that now I got a full set of rims sitting in my backseat waiting for some tires. Since I dont need the tpms sensors I figured I would just take them off and sell them and just throw some regular valve stems in and make my money back on the wheels. Which after a quick run through ebay shows people selling them from $150 - $200 for a set. What do you guys think?

If they're the black ones that come on base model 5th gens you're talking about then good deal for you. I personally think they're ugly but that's a steal as far as price goes.

Re: Oh the things you can find on craigslist

I think they are kind of ugly too but for the price I couldnt let them go.

And I still love my stock Irocs way better.

Reason I picked 'em up was the price but I do plan on restoring my stock Irocs myself since the clear coat is peeling off them and such and since I have no garage I'm going to have to keep wheels on the car the whole time. So I found these and figured why not be unique and try something different. Plan was to throw some cheap craigslist tires on them, get the proper spacers, and then run them while I work on the Irocs. Plus I figured I could just leave these new steelies on during the winter so that I dont have to worry about my summer tires cracking and getting dry rot from the cold.

Re: Oh the things you can find on craigslist

I personally love the base model fifthgen rims. They remind me of the steel ralleys that came stock on my car. I'd say they were a pretty rockin deal.

I like the base 5th gen wheels, but I'm also a huge fan of black wheels. They remind me of the 80's S10 rally wheels, Monte Carlo's had them as well and some Camaro SC's

Re: Oh the things you can find on craigslist

The thing about rally wheels is they'reo nly 15 inch wheels, so you can put some fat rubber on them. But with these, they're 18x7.5 or something like that. You probably cant even fit a stock 245 width tire on one. Ugly, heavy, narrow rubber, etc. There's a few on my local CL too that never seem to get bought. For what you paid, though, they're great "roll around" wheels for utility purposes. Like if you wanted to paint your car... or drift or something.

There's some $400 minty mint C5 magnesium wheels for sale near me on CL... I just dont have the cash, but that's a steal.

^^^See now that would be a good buy....

As far as these things go I just figured I would pickup a set of used 245/40/18 tires for them off craigslist, find some spacers, and slap 'em on the car and see what I think....may be a while before any of that happens because I might be looking at having to swap another motor into my dd and do other things to both cars first but in due time.
