Functional G-effects
I am going to mold some fiberglass ground effects for my self and I know it is contreversal to add them to SCs. I am going to add some extras: splitter on front, diffuser on rear, fog lights. I am not happy about the proposition of the Camaro floating at top speeds and I could use the extra downforce at the track and with the suspension tweaks. It will be funtional.
Am I exempt? I would add ay false badging or anything. What do you guys think?

I cant find any pictures of the car I am thinking of, but it had some kind of functional ground effects on it. The front spoiler was still there, but it had an extra piece of metal (sheet of aluminum) under it that was angled down a few degrees. It looked really sweet and it was added to keep the car on the track at high speeds (the car could go over 200mph!) I saw it in one of the HotRod Magazines, but I've seen it online also. I'll try to find a picture of it and post it to give you some ideas.

This is what I had in mind:
http://albums.photopoint.com/j/Album...a=14097631&f=0
There I have modified a pic from the Camaro art post. Those are (sketchy) randitions of the fog lights I have (Canadian Tire 50 buck specials. I had them in the sock location but I wasnt happy to have them so close together, and the TA lights just look cool on the G-effects. I have added the splitter like he (one post up) was talking about.
The other pic is of the Audi Lemans car, (don't know why the colors inversed[?])which I put up to illustrate the idea of a diffuser. I straitens out the air in the rear to help the spoiler temendously.
I was going to make the splitter and diffuser pieces out of carbon fibre for a quality look. As well as looking good, these things should create some wicked downforce at good speeds! Andretti won Lotus a Cart championship on good ground effects alone!

Thanks for the input!!! Any more suggestions would be great!
I like the effects in the Erikson Camaro (SP?) but I wouldn't divert from stock that much.
I was told that the grond-effects were one with the front facia. Is this true? I thought they were a second piece.
Now, just got to get someone to lend me them for the mold. Hmmmm... AllerdZ lives pretty close.

I have seen this on a red 91-92 Camaro. It had little round fog lights in the ground effects and it looked like a white trash project. I didnt like it at all. I wouldnt do this guys, it really doesnt look good

I really wasn't asking if people liked it or not; I like it, I know that.
This happens so much on this board: opinions differ, insults fly, and people don't get anywhere. Monkie, Where do you think the fogs would look best? That would be constructive.
By the way guys, how impossible are exhuast cutouts in the rear?

I'll get you the link for the article it came from. Just a Sec.
Back. I cant get a link directly to the article, but if you go to www.hotrod.com and go to the feature cars and search for Camaro it'll be there. Why a Zr1 would be under Camaro, I dont know.
