Brighter 1157 in the front turn signals

I'm looking for a brighter 1157 for the front turn signals in my 91 GTA.

I've bought cheap LED's and they don't seem to fit. They will slide into the bulb holder, but I can twist them in and down.

Any other proven alternatives?

What lumen rating did the ones you bought have? SuperBrightLEDs have several options, ~200 to >800 Lumens. 800 Lumens should be able to burn the paint on the car in front of you.

You'll want amber for the front corners.

2057 is brighter. 3057 is brighter than that. Keep in mind that they also get hotter than 1157, and may not last as many hours...

3057 is a wedge mount though.

Thanks for the replies.
This is what I currently have:
https://www.sylvania-automotive.com/...57ALL.BP2.html

The reading I have done says that the 1157 is brighter than the 2057, not sure if that is correct.

And more expensive too.

From the sylvania brand, the 2057 is more expensive than the 1157.

Re: Brighter 1157 in the front turn signals

I did buy LED's, but they won't fit. Had to go back to the incandescent.
Seems like the shoulder of the bulb won't allow it to seat.

The incandescent bulbs fit no problem.

Re: Brighter 1157 in the front turn signals

A lot of 1157/1156 LEDs, especially cheap ones, are wider than the base, and the body of the LED sits squarely on the base, so they won't fit far enough into the socket to twist them into place, as you noticed. They need to be tapered where they meet the base.

Holley Retrobright LEDs are designed like standard incandescent style bulbs, and they're not expensive. Here's one pictured below, next to a larger, expensive, resistorless LED that is tapered where it meets the base and fits properly because of that taper. If that larger one was square where it met the base, then it wouldn't fit far enough into the socket. 1156 sockets are even tighter, so a taper is even more important for 1156 LEDs

Re: Brighter 1157 in the front turn signals

Those sylvania silverstars are bright, alright and hot too. I had a set in my taillights years ago. I took them out though after i noticed they'd warped a spot in the lens right in front of the bulb. I can only imagine what they'd do to the front maker with its thinner lens.

Not a bulb, but anyone have those Braven LEDs?

Re: Brighter 1157 in the front turn signals

I used this brand with good fit and brightness. I used the different colors for the different locations. Red lamps for the tails, Amber for turns and parking and white for reverse. These also fit as illustrated in the pic. I too had problems with the cheaper LEDs not fitting into the sockets. I just used a set of this brands switch back, resistor, DRL feature and they fit and work perfectly in my Vette.
