RSpeed, ChevyKen, anybody with 17X9 or 9.5's, I've got a wheel question!

Hey guys, today is better than any Christmas I've ever had, I just got my ROH snypers complete with a set of Yokohama A520's from Jdwheels!!! I'm also getting a 3.45 gear put in my 9-bolt, and I'll get the car back tomorrow. Anyway, I got 275-40-17 tires on the 17X9 rims. I just wanted to know, what modifications need to be done to the front wheel wells, before I bolt them on? Or can I just bolt them without much rubbing? I've got the stock Iroc wheels on know, and have the stock springs. I've got a Pro-kit that I'm gonna install after I get the wheels on. Let me know watcha think.

If you ordered them with the correct backspacing you shouldn't have any trouble.
My front rims (9.5) have a backspacing of 5.25", and I have the exact same rubbing as I did with the stock 16" IROC wheels - which is a full turn while in reverse.
I have not modified anything to make mine fit.

ChevyKen, I just checked the backspacing on all of the wheels and they all have 5.50" of backspacing. They said they would send the wheels with the correct bs that they had listed in their book, when I asked them about it. I hope this isn't going to be a lot different than the 5.25" bs on your wheels, Ken. But I'll let you know tomorrow when I get the car back.

Im sure you will be fine with 5.5" - as a matter of fact, I believe most of the guys that order 9.5" get them with 5.5".
I went with 5.25" because I carefully measured the clearance and 5.5" looked to be closer than what I'd like to the end link. On my car it would be extremely close to scraping the rim with 5.5".

I think it'll work out fine though - as it works for the other guys.

Your wheels actually have a 5-inch backspacing. Don't take your measurement to the physical edge of the rim. Take them to where the rim starts to roll and you'll drop off 1/2-inch from your measurement and come out at the correct 5-inch backspacing.

This wheel will work without trouble on your car.

I had to slightly modify the driver's side strut (BFH to a vestigal metal ear) to clear that wheel.

I would have the alignment checked, sometimes the tie rod can rub up against the wheels after a new set is on. Actually i would have it done after you do the prokit springs, the alignment will probbably be way off after you put the kit in. I had rubbing from the fron pass side mud flap, my car came with those Z28 mud flap things, anyway when the car was in a squat position on the passenger side it would grab ahold of that flap and make some noise, but i fixed that pretty easily.
