Just wondering if anyone has had a good experience with them.
Also if you did what package did you get and did you do your own prep? I was considering taking it to maaco and just going over with them a couple of times what exactly i want done in writing.

Each Maaco is owned independently, so there are good and bad ones.
My dad got his 78 El Camino and 79 Trans Am painted by his buddy at Maaco about 5 years ago, and they still shine today.
It depends on whether the guy painting knows what he is doing or not.
Ask friends where they got theirs painted, how long ago, and such, and see how it held up. Look around for different shops, also, and check them out.

No4nJunk, is happy with his. It all depends on the particular one like said above, and do all your own prep work, if it ain't taped they'll spray it.

Very! Of course you just have to find the right place. See if you can speak to the people who are working on your car (if possible). Get on thier good side. Usually the job, if prep work was done correctly, will turn out nicely. I would also recommend doing a search on here for paint prep. and body work. No4nJunk, is happy with his
Mark, why the hell isn't your movie working. I click it and I wait and wait and wait for something to happen. I know its not me because I'm on a T1. Is anyone else getting this?? I want to see it.
I think i will take it to maaco cause with the extra 2500 i save i can do something sweet with that cash.
The only thing is that i don't want to do my own prep cause i have no idea what i am doing or what to do for that matter.
Any suggestions or steps i should do is greatly appreciated.

The guy who is hosting it for me, said the server is having problems, guess I'll just remove it when I get a chance.Originally posted by No4NJunk

We need to get some pics in this thread of Camrs89's 72 LeMans.
Thats the best Macco success i've seen. Of course he IS also a proffessional detailer.....

This should help ya out. You don't need to be a professional to be good at body work. Just use your brain and a little patience. You'll never learn unless you get out and do it. Here are some simple pointers to help you along.

My Bug was painted by a local OKC MAACO. Got lots of compliments from everyone who saw it. I did all the prep work - removed all gaskets, lights, bumpers, etc etc.
Gonna have them do my T/A later this year (I hope...)

a great custom painter once told me "pictures mean nothing when it comes to showing off paint" and after doing a lot of research and having my own car painted he is absolutely right. your best bet is to find someone who has a car you can see in person, sure pictures are nice; but not for showing any quality.

I got mine painted at Maaco 3 months ago when they were having a special. I did my own prep work, but also had them do their supposed "prep job" so I could get their warranty. Came out to $302 total. They did a pretty good job, definitely worth the low price. It does depend on which one you go to though. If they don't offer, you might want to ask them if they can give you some touch-up paint after you have it done.
