Need help on taking pics of neons.
Need help on taking pics of neons.
I have a fuji digital camera, its 1.3 megapixels, a real nice camera. I tried taking pics of my neons at night, and all that turned out was just the neon tube, no glare at all so they sucked. I was wondering how you guys take pictures of neons that turn out, I mean u can see the glow and all. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Are you using a flash? If so, you can try taking a picture of the car with flash and then taking it without the flash and then do some image editing on the computer. Just cover the flash up with your finger. You could also get a light source and shine it on the car and not the ground, and take a picture without flash. If you need some image editing done, you can send em to me through email, flyway190@yahoo.com, and I'll fix em up no problem.

If you have a tripod, place the camera on that, turn off the flash and use the timer function. If no tripod is available, hold the camera very still and take a pic without the flash.
here are 2 examples, I took these pics in Universal Studios FLorida last October.
I put the camera on a railing and turned off the flash and pressed the button very carefully, trying not to jar the camera.
I used a Kodak DC-290 Digital Still Camera.

Not all digicams have that kind of "shutter" control. I like the shots your cam takes, though, Zeph. I'm gonna have to look into the Kodaks when I go cam shopping.
On a regular camera, I use a flash set on low with a diffuser, and a low f/stop setting with a 1/30 shutter speed, and of course a tripod.

I love the Kodak cameras, great pictures pretty much most of the time. I am not up to date on the new cameras, I've used primarily the Kodak DC-260 and DC-290, they are the same camera, just the 290 is newer with 2.1 megapixels and the 260 is 1.3 megapixels.
I've also used the DC-280, which is 2.1 as well I believe, but doesn't take as good a picture as the 290.

Thanks alot for all the help guys. The pics I am taking are the interior of the car, there are neons under the dash and a neon that shines throgh 3 ports in the back seat. and the pics just wouldnt work. Thanks again.
