cleaning up engine bay
cleaning up engine bay
I have an 84 Trans Am that was equiped with A/C but since the system has died and never really used it I removed they system. Now I wan to clean up the area on the firewall. Is there just a heater box that I can put on, if so were can I order one from? There is not a salvage yard with in 200 miles of were I live.

You could fabricate some sheet metal or plastic to cover up the hole. I just read somewhere on this board that you should keep your old A/C stuff because GM doesn't make that part anymore and if you toss it you will be at a big loss. Another option was to gut it and reinstall it.

Hey Johnsjj2 looks like you need the A/C delete pulley. Oh, and that TPI air intake?
Clean Bay though.
I just ripped all my crap out too. Time to bust out the messy fiberglass stuff.

I believe that "hole" is where the blower motor will go back in.
Is that right?
I think I'm going the same route as Z did. Keep the heater screw the A/C.

Thats what i did. Deleted my entire AC and also the heater control valve. Best mod i have done so far, cleared up so much space on the passenger side. Next i will try to find out if it is CA legal to re-locate and re-route my air deverter valve, it looks so ugly above the valve cover.

You guys are right, I need that pulley. i just can't see spending $65 on it yet. I hardly ever drive the car. The TPI intake is there b/c I was planning on integrading it into the induction setup, but have since changed ideas. It will be coming off along with the K&N's, and I need to find a new, solid plastic cover.

you can get the pulley for about 47 bucks (includes shipping) from gmpartsdirect.com, part number 10055890. I know when you type the number into the search, it says water pump pulley, but it is the correct part number for the AC delete pulley.
