Need help Zanio
Ok I got my SC home yesterday, and got the car fully wetsanded. I went up to 2000 grit. I need to know which products I should get for my car. Right now it has no more orange peel but the paints dull and I want the shine back. I went to their web site and looked at the Z3 stuff for regular paint, Has anyone used it on a fresh coat of paint that was wetsanded? What else will I need also to finish it all off?
I'm just curious, but why didn't you want to use clear coat?
I also agree with Mark, i believe you're suppose to wait a certain amount of time for the paint to dry or cure(?), but that also could depend on the type of paint used.

85 SC u should have some one that is experienced at wheeling out a car.. trust me u can go to a most body shops and they will wheel it out not sure how much they will charge but thats your safer bet.. if u have someone do it that doesnt really know what they are doing they can burn the paint very very easy.. just my 2 cents good luck

I heard that it was 30 days until the paint cured. The day I painted my car I had heat lamps on it as soon as I finished painting. Had them on for 24 hours, then let the car sit for 5 more days until I brang the car home.

The paint needs at least 60 to 90 days to fully cure. After wet sanding you have to buff the paint to get the shine back. That's why 1 day paint shop paint jobs don't look as shiney as a wet sanded paint job because the surface is filled with orange peel. Now that you've sanded down the orange peel and checked the surface with a light to make sure their are no pits or missed spots, it's time to really make it shine! Start with a thick wool pad and a synthetic (not water based) buffing compound, go slow and do small sections at a time use light pressure and a slow buffing speed. Don't buff dry and burn the paint, keep enough compound on and clean the buffing pad when it gets filled with the compound. Check your work frequently with a light and use thick clean terry cloth towels. The surface should have a smooth dull shiney look to it after you're done. Next, use a foam buffing pad and 3m's foam pad polishing glaze. Buff in the same way and you will see an amazing shine. Remember to stay away from the edges and contour lines so you won't burn through or rip the pad off the buffer. After you're done buffing, you can use a hand Polishing Glaze like meguiars that'll make the shine deeper but, do not wax the paint for at least 6 months. Hope this helps.

You can wet sand and buff the paint the day after it's painted. Body shops would have a lot of cars in their garages if they couldn't be touched for 2 months. Also don't remove the masking paper before buffing because it keeps the car cleaner from all the buffing debri.

A word of advice: Get some 'Bleche White' from pep boys, take off those wheels, and clean the them off with it. Then, go over the tires with armorall.
P.S. What tire/wheel size are you runnin?
