Boy, this is going to lead to some mixed opinions.
Personally I prefer the looks of Camaros.
The advantages are minimal either way, Camaros have a better setup for air to enter the intake, but I believe Firebirds are more aerodynamic.

Birds have much more comfortable/sleeker interiors, look much smoother, and are just as fast.

I have seen a ****load more funnycar dragster thirdgen firebirds than camaros. If I had a scanner I would show you my third generation F-body magazine but I dont. It had mostly to do with the aerodynamics.

I'm nore of a 'bird fan myself mainly because I like the sleeker lines & somewhat more refined interior. Otherwise, strip the sheetmetal away, they are the same car

Can't decide... get one of each

I personally like the birds, I think they are a bit more aero. than the camaros and I think the interiors are nicer. however, there are a few xtra pieces to break on a bird (headlight motors).

either way you can't go wrong.

Yeap thats probably true due to the aerodynamics. I said "Ask people what they think of"

And it seems to me atleast 90% say camaro. I wasnt saying camaros are better drag cars, just that they look more agressive to me atleast.

Dont catch the wrong drift, I think Birds are awesome cars and look great. I just like Maro's better thats all

Camaros are the agressive looking ones.. which is a bonus, but as 88 WS6 TransAm GTA said, the interior is much nicer(in our opinions) then the camaro. and they still look killer on the outside... and when considering the owner/driver is on the inside so that is why I have a bird

Not much, they have a few more comforts. The Camaro has that no nonsense musclecar look and feel, while the Firebird has more of a sportscar feel and look. Camaros are also liked by more and more known, get a Camaro.

Usual Camaro Coefficiant Drag: .34 Cd.
Usual Firebird Coefficiant Drag: .32 Cd.

As you can see there isn't that much of an aerodynamics difference, although it varies on certain models. They are both at Lambourghini level Cd and are some of the most aerodynamic cars ever made.

I agree with most here, The Firebird/Trans Am is more aerodynamic, have cool interiors, But I really like the Camaro. My best friend has an 89GTA T-top car. I absolutely love to drive the beast, but for some reason, different spring rates, shock valving etc. My camaro seems a little more nimble, but his seems to have less rattles, and a little quieter road manners.
Anyway both awesome cars. Just my 2 cents...

depends what look you are looking for... if your looking to impress the ladies, go firebird (around here anyways the chicks hate camaros but love the birds). but if your looking for a tough look that will scare the pants off "ricers" exc.. go with the camaro.

Firebirds rock.

I love the birds. I have always felt they were sleeker looking. The interiors looked more plush and then the Camaro. I have always thought the birds have a more finished look overall.

Firebirds are the way to go. Camaros seem old tech to me, which isn't a bad thing. Camaros just look better with 15" big and little wheels and slicks out back, and the tail higher than the nose. Firebirds look better lowered and fitted with 17" 5-spoke wheels. (Just look at Zepher's video.) Birds look like they can turn, Camaros look like they can haul in a straight line... Depends on what you want.

Buy Jim85IROC's TA!!!! I like the way the interior of the Birds looks. The Round gauges kick *** and make it easy to stick in some autometer gauges and make it look bad ***. Go with a bird I can stare at mine for hours just looking at how Beautiful she is.

aerodynamically the 'birds are better. They also have a functional wing unlike the 'Roc's/Z's that create lift at highway speeds even.

why limit yourself to a camaro when you can get a bird and FLY!

I have always been a fan of the Firebird. I love the dash and interiors better. Well the 82-84 model. The 85-92 had cheeper consoles and they fall apart easier. The camaro has the same hard plastic consoles like the early birds. I don't know why the birds changed and the camaro stayed the same.

I don't see near as many chewed up camaro consoles as 85+ bird consoles.

this was my former 91 bird. LOVE THE LOOKS OF THE BIRDS!

Sorry but a camaro strikes as more of a muscle car than a bird. Just my opinion i guess but did don yenko ever create a ZL1 firebird.

having owned both a 91 Camaro, and now an 87 Trans Am, I must say I like the Trans Am A LOT better. In my opinion, it just looks a lot better. I also agree with the interior too; my trans am has a MUCH nicer interior. Dont get me wrong, I love camaros too, but the lines of a bird are sooooo much better.

1) Learn to spell. not a flame just a suggestion as to how your presenting yourself.
2) Anything better than 86. This way you'll have a roller moter. Also the 350 wasn't offered until after 86.
3) As for the speedo.....who cares. This does not determine what the car can actually do. It was used during time of the gas crisis. Why are you wanting to go faster than 90 (what they actually reach up to) anyway????

I like the TA's better because of the interior, looks and it seems that everyone and their mom has a camaro.

Trans Am's are more expensive for a reason... they're better. Bottom line. I'm not knocking Camaros, but if you go for a TA (not just a firebird) you get the same brute, haul a** look because it has a thicker front end. Also the lights flip up and down, and chicks go nuts over just the lights.

I gotta say I loved my bird so much that when I had to sell it to goto school the first thing I did when I got $$$, I upgraded and got my T/A. Gotta say you'll get more of the same with it too!(T/A that is) WoW! Do you want a big camaro or a big bird? That's the real question. I think I know what 90% in here might really want to say to that.
