anything is possible. good idea but two things come to mind to me. one of which is how to make it look good? you would have to polish the crap out of tin to make it look good. secondly how do u like burns? if that car sits out in the sun and u touch the metal u will literally burn urself. i like the idea but dont know if it is really worth it. i like it tho

an idea to think about, i THINK that they used paint to do the car in the pic (or some aftermarket kit that is plastic pained)..
sand down the pannel smooth, primer, paint.. just my .02 cents

IMHO tin would not be the best opition, rather go to autozone buy some sandpaper, and Dupli-Color spray paint and if u really want it to shine, use a clear coat, then just take them of a spray them......it will look great...mine does

yea, in that pic the silver was spray painted on.

I wouldn't go with metal because of the heat, but I have seen a couple with it and as it was pretty good, stick with the spray paint.

From the input I got on it, its aftermarket. And no it's not painted, its aluminum!

And maybe an attachment so that the large panel in front of the passenger would swing down so you could cook on it!!! At least, down here in Florida in the summertime!!!

It seems to me that too many people get too obsessed with wether or not they can do it, rather than worrying about wether or not they SHOULD do it.....

my idea is that im gonna get that gutter guard metal netting stuff and put it over the plastic pieces on the dash (gauge cluster piece, where the stereo and heat controls are, etc) my friend did it in his ramcharger and it looks nice as he!!

hey i just finished making the top center piece of the consule where the shifter and ash tray is and i made it out of aluminum and came out great. the only problem is that 3 holes dont line up but ill fix that. and i used primer and then a sprayed it with this wrinkle black spray paint and it came out lookin decent but its too wrinkly and im thinkin of either strip the piece and hit it up with sum regular black paint and then clear it or take it back to skool and buff and polish it like a mirror but then i have to worry about the heat from the sun to many options. but one kool thing is that no one will smoke in the car again becuz now theres no ash tray . i took some pics of it painted out of the car and a few in the car i just need to use up the roll of film and then develop it along with a nother roll of film i just used on the entire car again

Does this look similar to what you did? Except for the broken little piece!

This one (RED IROC RACER's) looks much better than that silver one IMO.

well all i did was make the pece where the shifter and ash tray is and i painted it with a wrinkle paint but i might strip the paint and either polish it up at skool or just hit it with sum paint to get it to match the rest of the dash.

Yeah, that is an aftermarket kit that is not available anmore. Every once in a while you will see one on ebay. The panels were aluminum and just installed on top of the existing interior. I think either JZA or Jon Prevost has a better history on it if you wanna talk to them.

I've a combination of both the red and the metal. I used 1/16 thick brushed finish stainless steel. I milled the "z28' and the bowtie on the peice that cover's my ash tray(the ashtray is non-functional now. I also made the headlight swith ****, the lighter, and the horncap out of aluminum on the CNC's at work. I few people have said its got too much red or it looks *****, but I'm proud of it.

I also modified an IROC Z emblem to make a updated version of my "5.0 Liter H.O." emblem.
