Door Hinges
This may be the wrong place to post this. However, I have just finished installing 3rdgensolutions greasable hinge pins on my 88 GTA. The hardest part of the installation is grinding off the heads of the old hinge pins. The rest of the installation was a breeze. Because my hinges were not in the greatest shape, the top and bottom sections of the upper hinge were not perfectly in line, therefore, there may be some side loading on the hinges.
I greased them, and I have quiet doors which do not drag anywhere, do not rattle or squeak, and best of all, do not need to be slammed!!!!
These hinge pins are absolutely fantastic.
Kudos to Andy at www.3rdgensolutions.com .
Cheers

Richard,
I'm seriously contemplating Andy's 'fix'. Any suggestions that would make my install easier? Were you forced to make any adjustments afterward?

James,
Use a hoist to support the weight of the door. Do not pry on any of the hinge parts. Do get someone to help, or at least for moral support. Make sure the grease nipples face you before you tighten the hinges. Finally, do cover the trailing edge of the front fender to prevent any possibility of damage.
Absolutely no adjustments were required. The door opens and closes level.
The installation took about two hours per door, and the end results were more than worth any amount of sweating during the install. The kit provided by Andy is 100% complete, kinda unusual in this day and age.
Cheers

Richard,
Could I somehow manipulate a floor jack to support the door? Did you remove the inner door panel and weather stripping at the front of the door?

James,
I used a floor jack on the drivers door, but I had someone hold the door for the entire time I had the hinge pins out. I didn't remove the weatherstripping at the front of the door, but in hindsight it would have made the job easier. I did not remove the inner panel, I could not see any advantage to this. Just blow off the material from grinding with an air line.
I also replaced the lower pins at the same time, just be careful with the spring, it is a b**ch.
Cheers

I have the roller and replacement pin available. But have not put it on the website, because I do not yet have the installation photos or instructions done.

Andy,
Any progress on your brake kits? I'm interested.
