How long before buffing?

How long should I wait before buffing my car. I know it has to sit a while to let the paint cure. I was just wondering what you do.

I am not real sure about that one. But i just wanted to say thanks again for the great deal on the wheels. And the car looks great, post some pics when you get it all done.

Depends. Did you use clear coat?

If so, some clear coats get harder to buff the longer you wait.
I used ppg 2020 clear, and I ususally buff within 3-4 days.

Any longer and it would be like trying to buff a tire. Just give it a few days, and you should be ok.

What color are you buffing? the last one I did was black.
I didnt thing I was ever going to get the swirl marks out.

later

It's single stage red. I used 8 parts paint 4 parts reducer and 1 part activator.

With single stage, you should not have any problem. Just give it a few days, Single stage buffs pretty easily. Just be careful and take your time.

I like the egg crate foam pads. They work better to me. Be careful buffing the front and back bumper covers, they get hot easily and will blister the paint.

good luck

later.

At my shop I was told by Dupont representatives that it should be started by 24hrs otherwise it just sets up too hard. We have sprayed at 8 am outta the booth wetsanding by 3pm and outta the shop the smae night I guess it is just a preferance but the sooner the easier it is to sand, and buff. It is also easier to burn through.
