Try an Auto Uphostery shop. There are also Auto Upholstery Suppliers as well. I don't have a specific shop to recommend. Use the phone book, www.switchboard.com, or a web search with google.Good luck, Lon.
I have an 89 convertible but it has the clamshell that closes over the whole top, I didn't know there was a vinyl boot. I'm in need of the main pillar for the passenger side of the top frame. Anyone have a lead?

He is referring to the black pebble finish vinyl that was glued to the fiberglas/metal composit tonneau cover. I already replied with a source for the metal piece you need on your other post. Lon

I bought mine with 70,000 on the clock. It was in very good shape, but I have been replacing every single part that shows any wear or tear, I haven't had hardly any chance to even drive it the last couple of years.
After years of searching, I finally found one of these this month:
or if it ain't showing:

89ragtop, I am assuming that you know there is another plastic piece that slips into that and is attached with 2 screws. You can't use the piece you showed without it. I can snap a picture and e-mail it to you if you need to see what it looks like. I'll answer your next question before asked. No I don't make it or have a source for it. P/n is 12501809 Bezel, shoulder belt LH (89 model year). It appears they changed the p/n for the 90-91 models (12391482). P/n 12391481 is the RH bezel (which looks like it is still available). This is why I caution anyone considering buying a thirdgen convertible to look carefully at the condition and completeness of the plastic trim parts. Some pieces can be fabricated by modifying coupe pieces. But most are unique to the convertibles and worse yet many have 3 different versions. So finding a convertible parts car with the part may not help you much in restoring yours if it is a from a different model year. Lon

Yes Lon, I have that bezel off my car in good shape with only a tiny hairline crack that is near unnoticeable unless you stare after someone tells you about it, but I do wish I could find a new one. I do have 12391481 new in a GM part bag as well as mine had a tiny crack as well.
I am very familiar with all these parts (for 89 mostly, as you stated there were at least 3 variations of some parts). It is nice to see that you are so helpful to the rest of the vert crowd. I tried helping out with info and such for awhile, but the last two years I rarely post because I just don't have the time to regularly visit the boards. My post count seems to get smaller every time I post.
This part did not come from a parts car. I didn't need many parts because most of mine are in very good shape. Every parts car I have come across or inquired about shows the same parts worn just as bad or even worse than my own car. This part was uninventoried GM stock that one of the board sponsors came across (no, there are no more, this was the only one I was told).
My passenger side cap (the mirror of the one shown above) is very presentable with only a tiny crack that I repaired and is unnoticeable.
About the only thing convertible specific I need yet to be show ready is to have the vinyl on the tonneau cover redone because it has some minor wear at the front edges. Finding this part was a major find for me because it was one of the last discontinued parts I needed, and I have been looking for it for a few years.
