Has anybody tried gluing fabric on int. panels?

Has any one tried gluing a fabric over the plastic interior panels - like with a spray adhesive or contact cement? I've seen 3rdgen cars with factory carpet on the panels in the junk yard. Does anyone sell aftermarket int. panels ?

The Paddock sells precut carpet kits for interior panels. You will either need to call or order a catalog to see them as they dont have invantory posted on their site

Excelent job Abubaca, I hope mine turn out as nice as yours when I get around to them

I had to replace a panel that didn't have the factory carpet once. I cut a piece of carpet myself to the right size and used 3M spray adhesive.

i'd rather wrap it all in black italian leather. Or, that fake stuff, either way it'd look neat

Anyone know where they sell that stuff ( the "leather dash" you might see in a C5 or Acura), pleather I suppose its called. If I could put that on my dash pad.. that would prevent me from buying another of those horrid things.

We used the same material that the seats were done instead of carpet. The thinner material was much easier to work with and it turned out great.

Thanks, Guys - yea, I got to get busy on that interior - I like the black leather-look upholstery, but it is so hot in the summer time.

You can get pleather at any GOOD fabric store. If you want to use carpet, make sure that you use non-backed carpet. I am going to start mine when I get my new seats. Going from Med. Beechwood to gray and black. I saw some good carpet (non-backed) at Wal-Mart the other day for 14.99. Not enuf to do the whole car, but enuf to do most of the panels in our cars. I was thinking of doing the headliner in pleather to look like the Audi.

I did mine in Nauga soft. I got the pricey stuff that looks like leather. It ran about $36.00 a yard. Its low gloss and is automotive grade with UV protection. Had to special order it. It actually matched the leather swatch I got from Mr. Mikes (if I get my seats recovered in leather vs. 4th gen seats) Came out great.

I'm going to see if the guy who fixed my seats can put some pleather on the dash pad and make it look OEM. If that goes well ( my dash pad is cracked just like everyone else's) I will have him do the rest of the panels.

As an alternative to gluing stuff to the panels, I've found they come up quite good (in a "different" sorta way) if you paint them with house paint.
Unless you guys in the US of A call it something different (forgive me, I don't know) I used a standart matt emultion in "sand" which is effectively beige. Will look better than red in a purple car methinks!
Just my .02, but it kinda gives them the look of a different material.
