How to get door spring in?
I was putting a new door pin in my passenger door, and inorder to get the old one out I had to jam the other spring slightly out of the way, however it ended up popping out right after I got the pin out. I have no door spring now which sucks for our big heavy doors, everytime my girl tries to get out the door slams back in her face.
I tried channel locks but the ones that I can get the spring to compress enough in cant fit into the small space by the door hinge. Anyone know how to get this spring back into the door hinge assembly?

if you dont want to buy a spring compressor...the ghetto way to do this is get some bailing/tie wire cut a few pieces loop it through the center of the spring, then start tisting the ends together as you twist the wire shortens compressing the spring...install, untwist, cut wire out...voila! just be careful you dont let it pop out and put an eye out

Heh, I'd forgotten that, saw it posted the last time we discussed this. It was suggested to compress it in a vise, then wire it up, etc.......
Sounds like a plan to me, if you don't have the tool.

put the spring in a vice, and compress it, then use the zip-ties, or bailing wire. After you stick the spring back in, just release it carefully. That method worked for me at least.
