Should I paint or undercoat my new gas tank?

Or should I just leave it alone? I just don't want it to rust around the neck again and end up leaking like it is now.
I got the new one from Advanced Auto, it's a Automotive Designer product. It might be galvanied or something, It's kind of shiny.

Thanks!

Can I buy POR at a parts place? Can I put it right on the bare metal?

I used undercoating/sound proofing on mine, then painted it red over that. Too bad the heat shield covers 95% of it.

You can kind of see it in this pic.

I ended up scuffing it up then priming it and then putting the undercoat over that. And yes, the heat shield covers almost all of it, that's why I just left it at that.

POR-15 is designed for bare metal aplication. Just get the starter kit and go at it. That $hit is great, I used it under my battery and it hasn't even scratched yet. I got some on my garage floor and i had to use a hammer and chisel to get it up.
