Where is this leak coming from? Help please!
Recently, I noticed while driving home on a 200 mile trip that the interior carpet in the front passenger side area was drenched with water. At the time, I figured that I had driven through a puddle and the water had leaked in from somewhere. It had been raining fairly heavily so it seemed like a legitimate cause.
Today, after driving about 20 miles, I noticed that the carpet (after having dried out) was getting damp again. It was a clear day with no rain.
Can someone please tell me what is going on?
I'm going to be taking another 200 mile trip in a couple of days and really would like to know what the story is. Thanks.

first 2 things i would check are the heater coil (could be leaking), or under the a/c fan box (in the engine compartment) meany times leafs collect under that box aginst the firewall and rust thru it... thru the firewall is what happend to me...
I think it may be the heater core as my a/c doesn't currently work. However, while cleaning up the water with white towels, it did not stain it green (as might be expected if there were coolant being leaked).
My coolant levels (at least in the reservoir tank, didn't check the radiator yet because it's too hot) are normal. With the amount of water that was in the car, I should definitely have noticed a decrease.
Assuming it is the heater core, how difficult is it to fix/replace? Would I need to remove the dashboard?
Thanks.

I have the same problem in my 84 T/A. My heater core is pretty new. It could be your Ts if you have them, the water could be leaking down behind the winsheild moldings. The underside of the floor pan could be rotted too. If you do by chance need a heater core you have to pull out the dash half way.

Not sure if this helps, but the weatherstripping on my door was leaking. When it rained hard, I noticed slight drips on the carpet on the door panel in the corner. I suppose if your weatherstripping was bad enough, the water could accumulate in the footwell, but I think you'd notice the door panel was wet too. Worth a shot though, good luck.

Throw your heater on full defrost and wait a few minutes. If your heater core is gone youll end up with an oily film all over the window. Its also going to smell sweet. Plus youll never defrost the window, its just going to get harder to see through. Im thinking you may have trouble in one of two places.
1: Take off your front right tire and pull out, or partially pull out the black plastic wheel well. I think its just clipped on with those black expansion type anchors. Its quite easy. Once thats out have a look at the seam where the floor of the car curls up and meets the actuall fire wall. You may have a fairly large whole there. Remember that the passenger side of the car is the side that parks in the puddles on the curbs or splashes through them. And if theres salt in your area then its going to get behind there.
2: Go to the car wash and blast the crap out of the lowr portion of the window. Make it seem like a heavy rain fall. There very well could be a hole right in the window sill where the window is Urethaned on to. If thats the case it will run all down the inside firewall and under the carpet.
Just a few ideas. Hope it helps.
