sunvisors???

are there any cars out there that you can swap sunvivsors to get rid of the old ones that have trouble staying up?

i've tried 4thgens, but the mounting bracket is shaped differently?

any suggestions.

I ended up just buying some new ones from Year One. No more floppy floppy

i had thought about making my own out of plexy-glass, putting 0% tint on one side, and silver tint on the other side that fades into black tint on the edges, hence making a mirror. and since plexy-glass can be drilled through easy without breaking, mounting it would be easy.

It's been my experience that the 'flop' is caused by the hanger. The 'bullet shaped' piece that inserts into the visor itself breaks free of its housing and as a consequence, freely rotates--which means that regardless of how much the visor screw is tightened, 'flop' will occur. New hangers from a boneyard are inexpensive.

UK,

Strangely enough, my car had the Velcro fix when I came into possession. I think that, in part, started the separation of the cloth from my headliner.

no.1 i don't like the stock ones........they are rather flimsy and don't have any accessories either.

no.2 most yards that have them are suffering from the same extent.

it isn't that they are even that bad; i just want them to look better. i've tried tightening them up and that must be the reason. anyone know how to get the hanger itself apart from the visor without ripping it apart?

has anyone installed visors other than 3rdgen?

After loosening the screw, the visor should simply slip off the hanger. Aside from a mirror, what accessories are available?

James,
I've just replaced my headliner, brought down big style by a 100mph blast with the windows down in summer... If your headliners ready to go, it'll go with, or without velcro.

Uk,

New headliner, new visors, new hangers, so I'll forgo the Velcro; nevertheless, I just might try the 100 mph blast you spoke of!

I know this might sound lame, but I wrapped that bullet shaped rod with electrical tape(not too much, just enough so the visor would still fit) and screwed the visor back on.

I also switched my original ones with 92 Firebird visors..they have a cover for the mirror so you don't have to be distracted by your reflection every time you need to block the sun.

the fix for droopy sunvisors is extremely simple
where the alloy "bullet " shape breaks away from the steel rod drill a small hole all the way through both pieces and pin it with a nail or whatever ,i did mine around 3 years ago and they havent drooped since
btw when finished file carefully and re paint gloss black

hope this helps someone out !

when i recovered my headliner i just covered over the holes for the visors, and ditched them. like it a lot better that way.

Ok here is your 4.99 fix. This what I did and it works fine.

There is a screw that can be tightened, after some years it gets worn out. Take the screw out and slide the visor out and you'll see the slot that the screw rides in. Get some JB weld and build up the slot just a little, let set for a few hours and reinstall.

Did this over 3 years ago and still works great.

Peace
