Someone please explain to me why "ryce" is an edited word on this board, but "n*gger" is not? Or perhaps why an admin who has the ability to say either would not have enough tact to think twice about saying it? Im not trying to start a flame, someone else lit the fire.

It's a banned word because too many people here use it to describe any mod they don't agree with and then every thread turns into a big flame war. Maybe when people show they can act like adults the word will be allowed again.

I read that a little earlier when i first got on here! It is a little rediculous man. Not too sure why, pretty stupid if you ask me. I like the fact that a mod can get the last word and not have anyone "challenge" them so to speak! lol That cracks me up on this board, its great. Not in a good way, just a comical way, unreal i guess you can call it! Well, i stayed away from that thread as soon as i knew what was going to happen. No need to add gas to the fire. But, if i were you, i would e-mail everyone i possibly could on this matter that is "high ranking" on this board and ask. B/C if you post it, like you just did, you will get everyone's opinions and they are not worth much, especially mine! I think it is wrong, bottom line. RIC ERS is not a racial term as far as i know, so why would it be canceled out, i don't know. Like i said, e-mail people, see what happens. I am not too concerned b/c there is stuff that goes on here that i don't agree with but i could care less! Its like some people's own little world so Fukc em. I still get sleep at night. Seeing that though does offend me. Don't really know what to think. Later-Bryan

I SEE.. AND USING RACIAL SLURS IS A SIGN OF MATURITY AND ADULT HOOD? Why not read the other thread first.

Last comment on that thread... explain that. I don't care about ryce.. makes no difference to me, but I do know that a flame war is a lot better than a race war.

As far as the terms "R I C E" and "R I C E R" go, for every person who sees it as a description of a poseur car that is all show and no go, there wil be a person who sees it as a racial slur, simply because most, but not all, "R I C E R S" are japanese, or imported, cars. So, perple equate "R I C E" to mean that you are putting down that particular nationality. I should know, as I have tried to explain the difference to my wife MANY times, but to no avail. As far as the whole "n-word" debate...if the word is so damn offensive, then NOBODY should use it, regardless of race, color, creed, ect. ALthough, on the other hand, ANY decriptive term can be used in a derogitory way, if the proper tone and/or context is used...

On another related note...I personally feel that the so-called "political correctness" has gotten WAY out of hand in this country. It used to be either you were black, white, japanese, chinese, korean, irish, ect, ect...now it's african-american, japanese-american, ect, ect... I guess that means I am "english-irish-scottish-native american-american".

I think we all know that. I am almost positive that he wants to know why it can be used freely and not be deleted out of your post! The moderator just used it loosly, not directing it at anyone and it was not deleted from his post. I think it should be deleted if RIC ER is deleted. That is pretty sad. True, the way the "n-word" has been used in the past has brought a lot of hurt to people but its not what that word means. Look it up! You will not find a "black person" or "African-American" as a definition. That was a word used in the past to degrate people, a whole race. And now it is still used today by a bunch of close minded people and racists. Not calling the mod any of those by the way, i was just saying! Well, i feel it should be deleted. I was shocked when i read it, well just surprised.

To black people maybe, but not to japanese. We should never fight, we should always be nice to each other. Instead, we should all hold hands and sing Kumbaya around the campfire and never wear bras and protest wars down at the river where we keep the van where we live.

Just as I suspected. The "N" word IS in the word filter. However, someone neglected to put the plural form of it in. Just thought I would clear that up because I thought that might be the case.

I was careful on MotorSportConnect.com when I was setting up the word filter to block ALL forms of the word. N-word single, N-word plural, f-word, f-ers, f-ed, f-plural, etc.

Hope that clears that up.

Still dunno about the moderators use of it and then not giving a chance to respond.

First of all I think many of you think moderators have a lot more power then we do. As far as I know we can't ban words. What we can do is SUGGEST certain words that we see cause problems on the boards. Then it is up to the OWNERS of this site Dirk and Brad. The OWNERS then decide whether or not they agree. I know that I asked for the R word to be banned cause I was sick of seeing it used in every single thread for a while. 99% of the time it wasn't even used in the correct syntax.

Secondly why do we comment and then close threads so other can't reply? Because that is how you end the threads. If you have a problem with the way the thread was closed or the reasoning behind it you the Instant Message feature and contact the moderators directly.

This site was designed to help out enthusiasts with their cars and to exchange their ideas. However some of the members feel it is their job to constantly berate people for their ideas, and feel that their sense of what a thirdgen should look like is the only valid opinion. That doesn't provide a very inviting atmosphere for people who are new to the cars and/or the site. If you want a site where you can just post about how much you hate what somebody does to their car I suggest you create your own. Then you can rip on people all day long. But as long as your doing it on this board the OWNERS of the board make the rules, and the moderators will enforce them.

So if we feel that ni**ers should be banned, we should e-mail someone about it? Right? It just seemed silly to me that ric er was banned and not the "plural" form of ni**er! Thats all. Just reading that mod's post i was shocked to see it like others on here. Doesn't make sense to me that it hasn't been done before. I could care less about the ric er comments.

How about we allow ALL racial slurs.

BUT, if youu get caught using one.....you get banned.

Sounds like a solution to me.

*** forbid some people use some tact and actually refrain from using certain words.

If all these words were allowed, would more of you use them? Maybe I need to rethink who I associate with.

Dirk's gonna step in here soon and lock this whole forum, and you know....I wouldn't balme him.

I'm sure that plural was an oversight not done on purpose.

Not the place to be discussing it. If you have a beef, email the moderator or the administrator.
