Changing interior colors

hey i really need some new carpet and headliner and i was wondering if anyone has pics of an all black interior. mine is grey right now and i was thinking of converting to all black. how about black seats? i don't think i've seen those in a 3rd gen. i gotta get rid of the super strong smell of cigarettes thanks to the previous owner.

Black interior was optional from 85-92. 82-84 had Charcoal. All the interior parts can be swapped. But I don't recommend it unless you find a parts car with every single piece you need to swap. You'll need to pull the seats, console, seat belts, and all the plastic trim on both cars. You'll probably have to replace various trim clips, etc.

Also, Black is the most popular color to swap to, and all black seats and seat belts are usually faded to black. The result is that nice black pieces are hard to find and expensive.

Leave it gray, its in your best interest.

totaly awsome!!

I don't have a pic of it all done yet, the conversion is easy and makes the car look so much meaner. You best bet is to hit up one, and I mean ONE car at a junk yard or a pick-and-pull scrap yard and rape the parts out of there, (hell, I got all the plastic for $1.00 a piece!) and there are aprox. 18-22 pieces of trim on the third gens that cam in the accent color that would need to be swaped. oh, and don't foget the seat belts!! if there not already black those could get hard to find and a little pricey. For the head liner, take out the old one, (it should have a cardboard backing and some padding) and trow the padding out, and get some nice thick black fabric and some spray glue and you'll bet set. For the carpet, you can check around online, but you CAN find it (a full set) for around $90-$100! it does exsist! and remember, personlize it! It's your car! Have fun!

for the carpet, i would recommend just doing it yourself, you can buy a huge role of black carpet for 10 dollars each, should only need 2 roles. first you rip your old carpet out, size it up with the new black carpet, cut the new carpet to size, lay a bunch of caulk down, then put in the new carpet. it only takes a couple of hours for a average car nut to do this. or if you have the money, order it through nextgenparts.com, they have the entire black carpet set for around 200

Mike that looks sweet (minus the doors!) with the fourth gen seats. i hope on getting me a set of those in the near future also. money's pretty tight around christmas time!!

89rsIMPRTETR i am imagining that the finished product of that would not look as good as it would if i got the stuff made for it. its a hell of a lot cheaper though! we'll see......

actually need4speed, if you are a perfectionist like i am, it can look just as good as stock. like i said most people can do this on their own in a couple hours, took me about 2. like i said man, if you have the money, buy it online or from a junked car, othewise just do it yourself and i gaurentee as long as you cut it right, it woud come out great.
p.s. one word of advise, make sure your in a well vented area when your using the caulk, cuz i wasnt and man i was buzzing off the stuff big time! i could barelly even drive down to autozone afterwards lol

I did the swap 2 years ago. Stripped all the plastic parts from a Camaro.

Old,

New.

I still need to get some black doorpanels.
