firebird to camaro transformation?

ok, first off , IM NOT ACTUALLY GOING TO DO THIS. please save your hate mail lol. i was just wondering, the frames of the firebird and camaro are basically the same right? so if you were to get new body panels and interior pieces, could you take a firebird and turn it into a camaro or vice-versa????? i mean, all the body panels should bolt up. and as long as you ran the different wiring and everything, is it possible? even further, has anyone tried this or known anyone whos tried this????? even weirder, what if you were to put a firebird nose and headlights onto a camaro and keep the camaro rear body and taillights???? now that would turn some heads. post your thoughts.....

and no im not on crack, its just raining and im bored

i'll touch it... the answer is no, the front clip framing is different.

The entire radiator support is different, and the firebird snout dropps off unlike the camaro.

Yeah, but the potential is there.....you'd just need to take the ENTIRE front apart........I know it can be done, cuz someone had a pic floating around here a couple months ago....not a member's ride, just a random pic....it was a firemaro or something like that.

Actually, it might have been a maro nose on a bird....hmmmmm, I don't remember....

Bzzt... wrong. The skeleton of the 2 are the same.
The outer skin is the only thing that makes them look like they are shaped different.

Ha ha ha

I grew up around trailer trash and there was some things they all had in common. They would take a 2nd gen f-body and swap body panels off of the two : camero front clip on a trans am and vise versa.....they are know as Trans-Cameros in the south. But only one question ....WHY WOULD YOU WANNA DO SUCH A THING! :sillylol: :sillylol:

but in actuality the noses are lower on birds than on maros, the front end of the fendrs height is shorter height on birds than on maros by quite a bit, that would mean that the hood slants steeper down toawrds noseof car more on birds and cant see how that wouldnt affect the skeleton/tub design of the cars up front

Not only the nose, but if you look at the rear quarters (besides the obvious taillight differences) the Firebird's actually have a ledge at the bottom of the sail panel where the Camaro's I've seen don't. So besides doing the entire front clip (fenders, hood, radiator support, inner and outer bumper, electrical and all the lights), you would have to do both rear 1/4's, rear bumper (inner and outer?) and the metal portion of the hatch and spoiler to even start to come close. this implies all the GFX come with the body panels. We haven't even mentioned the interior yet.

You would need to have almost an entire donor Camaro, and the gain would only be in that the vin said Firebird and the skin said Camaro. Seems like alot of work to me.

Is it possible, yes. Practical, umm, your call.

GL!

oh i understand it wouldnt be practical at all. but thats what would make it turn so many heads. besides apparently some people like tearing apart cars to make them...um...."different"

(anyone seen monster garage on disc. channel? who ruins a NASCAR like that?!!! thats treason!!!!)

besides, theres a four letter word for cars that are mangled beyond recognition to be "beautiful" and "unique".......R*CE!!!!

heheh, i wasnt serious, just wanted to know if it was possible:lala:

this is a pic of my car when i bought it...wrecked on the front drivers side...it smashed the frame horn. At the time I only had a firebird parts car. So after some good measurements we cut the radiator support from both, and the frame horns...welded it all back together and it looks fine. Everything seemed to bolt up just the same.

NICE. That is a very sweet looking camaro. I love those flames. How much did that paint job run ya? My wife wants me to get my GTA painted super dark purple with ghost flames.

So you put Firebird fenders on your camaro and that's what it looks like?

Or have you since swaped out the firebird parts with camaro parts? I'm kinda confused with what you did.

Thanks for the compliments guys. The paint didn't run too much cause my grandfather and I did it ourselves. It only ran me a lot of time. It took about 7 hours to mask off both sides for the flames, and both were done free hand. This summer it is going back to black with ghost flames, and an ss hood so i will have to do all that work again.

No i didnt put the firebird fenders on. The only part that is firebird is the actual radiator support, and the frame horns. I had to buy new camaro fenders and a new front piece.
