Help with tach

I took my needle off my stock tach yesterday and now it reads 500rpm less. Is there a way to make the tach reset itself? If not how could i correct this?

maybe take it off again, when the car is off and try setting it back to zero.

just a guess.

do you remember what your tach idled at when the car was warmed up before you removed the needle? if so, just start the car and let it warm up, then take the needle off and place it at your normal idle rpm's.

Try turning your iginiton key to the position just before cranking the car. All the gauge needles should boucne around and settle to their approprate positions. The tach should be at zero, if the needle isnt on zero then put it there and then start up and see if its reading correctly then.
