im not sure about the holes but i do know that the spoiler is like a half inch short on each side. if you look at one on a gta or trans am with that wing from the side you cant tell but from the back you can tell.

If you want to do it right without bondo or getting out the drill.....you will need to get a rear deck lid from a donor Camaro 91-92 that had the High rise rear deck spoiler on it......then by doing that all you would need to do is have the spoiler and deck lid repainted to your ride, it will so much easier than pulling out the drill and bondo to butch up the rear deck lid to get it to fit right......the rear deck lid is the same for firebirds and camaro's......good luck with your project.........

Ive been looking at spoilers and like the Z28 high rise, and I have an RS.. I noticed from the picture of this wing on ThirdGenResource that the tail light/rear quarter panels on the picuture of the yellow car in the pic is totally different that my RS! is this the way 91-92 Z28;s are designed? anyway what Im wanting to know is can I put the 91-92 high rise Z28 spoiler on my 91 RS, and should I leave the stock side spoiler peices on, from the picture it looks like removing the center peice on the deck lid and filling in old holes, drilling new ones would fit the z28 spoiler.. but not sure if that would look dorky with the stock side peices left on, or taking them off.

When you buy one new, Does it come with some templates to help you make the holes?

xthree, a bit off subject of the post, but still a body related answer for you, read in your sig that you need to find a trick to fix leaky t tops, when i had my formula i just coated the weatherstripping with some vasoline (petroleum jelly). Seems to make the seal back to new. I think it works like this: Seeing the rubber in the weatherstrip is derived from petroleum, and the petroleum jelly was the same basic stuff at some point, maybe it absorbs into the weatherstripping or something, makes it swell enough to make the seal tight again. Whether this is true or not, who cares, cause it works!

thanks for the tip .. but I put brand new weather stripping on and it still leaks, turns out it does not leak between the weather stripping and the t tops but the weather stripping and the body, mine is also rusted due to the engineering design flaw in the fbody, so I need to fix some rust and do the T top silicone trick like in the tech article.

I would weld versus just bondo...better yet, get a virgin decklid from a yard car and drill an new holes. LT1Guy and I hae managed to find 4 virgin decklids in the past 6 monthes at a local yard. They are usually on earlier model camaros and birds... In fact i think in the future we might start buying them when we find them for people like you! Check with Hawks he may have an original high rise and can sell you the decklid with it...Good luck!

Whats the point of having a virgin deck lid.. you'll have to drill new holes in it, and patch the old ones just the same, unless its a Z28 deck lid.

With a virgin decklid that has never had a spoiler on it, there are no old holes hole to weld. You just have to drill new holes and mount the new one. Plus all our cars have an overbite and this would allow you to fix it when you replace the decklid.

Otherwise, you have to take off the old spoiler and decklid. I would not want to weld with the decklid attached to the glass, the weld spatter will harm the glass. you have to cover it with awelding blanket or cardboard. Then weld and smooth and then redrill and mount the new spoiler.
