New T-Tops or Repair

I was driving the other day (luckily it was late at night) and one of my T-tops flew off and broke. I'm going to have a look at the latch to see why it came off, but in the meantime I'd like to get a new set of tops. Does anyone know of a good brand of aftermarket tops, or a repair shop in the mid-Michigan area? Thanks.

BTW it's a '91 V8 RS

look for a good set of glass ones that are used. you can find them for aroun 50 - 150, depending on the time of the year.

good luck

when you guys say "it just flew off" do you guys really mean like "it just flew off" or like "some idiot pulled the lever and made them fly off?" it's kinda scarry since i usually fly on the freeway and i really don't want mine to fly off.

Badazz86z28, that would be great. Do you know if they'll fit on a '91 RS? My email address is cassid13@msu.edu if you want to send me the payment details. Thanks a lot!

[VU]Juan, yes it just flew off while I was coming home at 60mph.

They did change the T-Tops after a certain year. The plexi-glass ones do suck. I found a broken set at the bone yard the other day. I didn't like them at all. There are tons of T-Tops at the junk yards in my area.

I just called the Chevy dealer near me and they told me only the 90-91 plastic tops will fit my car. Can any experts confirm this? Thanks.

What kind of locking mechanisms do you have? And the kind on the 83's? There are pin style, and hook style locking mechanisms. You may need to swap out the brackets between the styles, its pretty easy to do anyways you may need to adjust them to get a good fit.

Theres some pics of the different styles here:

Well, I may be able to get a new pair of original glass tops, however they use the hook locking mechanism. Can anyone tell me where I can find the necessary hardware to switch from the pin to hook lock? Are there aftermarket parts available to use for the switch? Thanks.
