How hard is it to put in a 4th gen console?
Im not too fond of the 4th gen dash however my console is looking bad and I never really liked the square look, im thinking of hitting the bone yard and getting a 4th gen console, is it just a slap on project like seat? Thanks.

The auto console from a 4th gen has the shifter 3" off from a third gen. That is why you will need to use an manual console.

I attempted to try an Auto plate in my Formula the other day and it was no go, even with moving the shifter back, it was just too tall.
I then tried a 4th gen shifter and that still didn't work, this was too high and too long.
It seems like the 4th gen shifter sits lower on the 4th gen trans tunnel, or the console unit sits higher.

What about the mega shifter. I have one, but I want to do a 4th gen swap. Cant I just use the leather shift boot to cover up the mega shifter and make it look nice like that?

I'll see if I can get pictures of a 4th gen automatic car and compare the two tunnels and mounting spaces/brackets.
