4th gen seats... power? Opinions?
I am currently looking at buying a set of '96 Z28/SS leather seats. MINT - however they are not power seats. My current '87 IROC seats, while power, are worthless as the seats don't move correctly.
Is there any real benefit to power seats as opposed to manual other than the ease of operation? Can the powers do something or move someway that a manual 4thgen can't? (Aside from inflatable lumbar or something like that).
I'm thinking if a manual seat does the same, its probably better to go with them... at least for me.... one less thing to break.

If you are getting a good buy on 4th gen non-power leather seats
go for it,
You will not be using anything from your present power seats so no problems. Now ask youself this question, "how often do you adjust your power seats now"???
As example: once my driver's seat is set, I don't make any adjustments to it. Also, 4th gen seats have more manual adjustments then the 3rd gen seats.
I changed over to the 4Th gen seats and I am very satisfied with them.

I found a set of '96 SS/Z28 leather seats for $725 shipped... in MINT shape. I like the 95-96ish seat pattern better.
Anyhoo - It just doesn't have power options. Not that I care too much, but do the manual 4th gen seats have a few adjustment points instead of just forward/back and seat back up/down?

Why don't you keep the pwr seat track? The 4th gen seats should bolt right up.
I just did the oppsite 3rd gen seat to 4th gen pwr track.

depends on how many adustments it has, power 4th gen you had a 3 way power and a 6 way power, the 3 way is the same as the manual seat. My 3ed gen had a 3 way manual factory seat, my 4th gen seats are manual and ajust the same, forward back and tilt, and recline.
a 6 way has these pluse up and down for the front and rear,

I have 6 ways right now, but the stupid seat only moves in halves. Like, the right side will move up or down, or the left, not both.

If you really want power, yea just bolt your 3rd gen power base up to em. Its an extra 4 bolts in the seat switch and fits exactly. Ive got 4th gen leather in mine, they had 6 way power drivers seat, but I never move my seat and wanted to sit lower in the car so I just bolted my 3rd gen non power tracks up to the bottom an whala. As for the price that seems a little high, I paid 550 for mine shipped from california (shipping was 95) and they were from a 99, there not dead mint but pretty friggin close, thats after a couple months watching ebay for a good deal as well tho. I dont know which style your talking about mine are the tuck and roll style which is the kind i liked, but there both about the same price. Check ebay tho theres usually about 10 ads for 4th gen leather on there.
