How the #@&* is this water getting into my back seat?
Most of the time when it rains now I end up with water on the upright part of my passenger rear seat and on the seatbelt. How is it getting onto there??
I thought maybe it was the weatherstripping for the trunk but I don't think it would leak that high up.
I also tried checking the weatherstripping for the t-tops to see if it could be leaking back because the piece of plastic that goes across the top right infront of the hatch had some water on it the other day too. I didn't find any spots where it could be leaking though....atleast none that I saw.
Anyone have any ideas? I'm planning on getting new seatcovers sometime this year and I don't want my new onese getting water stains all over them like this seat now has!

T-tops:
If yes, check between the seal and the t-top bar and the seal and the roof panels, a little silicone might be in order. Also check the attaching points for the hatch hinges.
IF NO, Check the Hatch hinge attaching points.
Chances are its dripping from the plastic trim piece on the roof that covers the hatch bolts on the body.
good luck.

I did have the hatch hinge bolts out once or twice in the last year. What should I use to seal those suckers up? Windshiled ribbon or something like that??
Also I do have t-tops, but like I said I already took a quick look at the seals all the way around. The weatherstripping is about a year old and the only problem I had was infront of the t-bar required some more sealant because I had water coming out of my visor holes.

Paul its goin to be ur Ttop weather stripping. my car does the same exact thing i fixed it for now by 2 car covers and i havent had leak in my car yet excupt when i get caught in a rain storm while i drive but thats it. but yeah its coming from the ttop weather stripping becuz it comes out from there and drips back and hits the plastic interior pieces and ends up on the seats.

Yeah but where would the water be getting in from on the weatherstripping? I already checked infront and back. How can I check the center section? Where should I look there? I might try adding some more infront and back of the t-bar too.
Also I'll probably take the plastic piece off so maybe I can get a better look of the path it's taking.

Mine leaked in the same place. I pulled up the black bar between the t-tops, siliconed around the holes in the roof, and put the black bar back. Been fine since.

mine was actually leaking I believe between the seal and the bar itself. I removed the tops, masked everything off where I did NOT want silicone, and pulled back the rubber, squirted some 100% silicone in there and took some suranwrap and put it on the edge of the t-top, then I installed the t-top, the silicone ozzed a little, wiped with my fingers, let it set for a few hours. Removed the tops, and suran wrap... no more leaks...

I once had a 1983 Z28 (no T-Tops) that leaked water in the same area you are indicating. If you had the hatch off recently (and it didn't leak prior to removing it), then chances are you broke the seal under the hatch bolt plates. Just remove the hatch again, unbolt the plates from inside of the car.... and supply a generous amount weather adhesive under the plates. You could also add some teflon sealant to those bolts if you'd like..... worked for me!
i say hatch, only cause my ttops dont leak, and one day at work, i saw a good about of water leaking into the car from the hatch... with this weather and the sudden down pour, you can sit in your car and see where its coming from... it was my hatch.. apparently, i didnt close it right!!!! i opened and closed it and it hasnt leaked since... i get a drop or 2 when i wash the car and the water goes around the top of the passanger side window.

Do I have to take the whole hatch off or can I remove each bolt individually and add some sealant onto it?? I didn't remove them from he car side, just the glass side.

You can just remove the bolts, the nuts actually, from the car side and silicone the holes.

Don't take the easy way out.... do it right, this way you're SURE that the problem is fixed! Take those plates that support the top of the hatch off, and supply a generous amount underneath them. Then.... supply the bolts and nuts with thread sealant.
