black interior and summer
Ok, i dont have a 3rd gen anymore but i do have a black camaro with dark charcoal interior, and it cooks in there even with a/c the car is still hot inside. most 3rd gens dont have a/c, but everyone changes to black interior. even more some with black leather seats and t tops, isnt it really hot in there:? i guess they question im asking is why does everyone go to black? is it cause it looks better and the heat wont bother u, because u have a/c and for that reason its not hot, or someother reasons?

Black goes with almost every colour....
I don't think a little bit of heat is such a big deal if it looks good.
black also hides dirt, stains etc... it's bearable with t-tops off

Black Leather
Black Interior
NO T-TOPS
Sunny South Florida.....
Yup, my car is a damn oven........It takes a solid 10 minutes of A/C going to cool my car down.....
BUT, i do have Double Limo Tint, so that helps....
It also helps if you push the seats forward, so the back of the seat isn't exposed to direct sunlight, like when you are letting someone in the back....
Although the headrest does get quite hot, when you are using this method....

I didn't switch to black for the very reason that it is too damn warm. My car is dark on the outside and light on the inside. So it's not too bad.
I love the way the black looks but for function I have to keep the grey. Just my opinion.

.... most 3rd gens dont have a/c....
Actually, the opposite is true. It's hard to find one without factory A/C...
BTW, I have a black interior and it sure gets hot here in Southern Arizona!

White ext, t-tops, black interior, no AC...
there's bits inside where I should put stuff over, like the center console,... or it's too hot to touch...
if it's hot out, I just go out a bit sooner and crack it... then it's fine... or take a towel to put over the bits my arms rest on.

One tip, that big black dashboard hanging out underneath the sun all day absorbs ALOT of heat and goes straight to your face when you are driving....
I will sometimes leave a beach towel in my car and just throw it on the dashboard quickly before i leave to protect the dashboard from all the heat, really does work....

In my 84 Z I switched to black cause it looks so much better than the VINYL BROWN I had... ack!
That car had no A/C... and no insulation in the console... lets just say it felt like I had a hair dryer on me the whole time I was driving it!
I had black cloth seats, and it was ok. I'd hate to have vinyl or leather though!

I live in Phoenix Arizona, T-Tops with no A/C, no interior (only a seat, column, dash, shifter and e-break), and no heat shield on the floor boards, which are black, and get heated up by the sun and the exhaust.
And to be honest, it doesn't even really bother me. I'm not trying to act all hard, but it's not really that bad.
Sure, you learn not to rest your arms on the arm rests and console after it's been sitting in the sun for a while (when I had them on), but it's all good
I personaly think a nice grey theme would look better than black, but I can't seem to find any grey armrests anywhere, and they are a very odd shape to cover with any type of material.

I try to park in the shade. When I don't, the only bad part is the steering wheel and the shifter--that damn B&M Hammer shifter gets really hot. On my wifes car: 95 cutlass 4d black with black leather interior and no tint--it's much worse. The shiny front window shade(walmart cheapie) helps a bunch. But all that clear glass and black interior is not good.
