Leaking Rear Hatch
My Trans Am's rear hatch is leaking everytime it rains. The bottom of the trunk fills with water and the drivers side wheel well fills with water also. I thought the weatherstripping was bad so I replaced it. It rained and the water was laying in the backend again. I have no idea what to do. I searched for anyplace water can get into and have found nothing. My spoiler is shot, but I don't think water could be getting down inside the cracks, or could that be it? Please help if possible.

I had a problem with my trunk leaking on my 87 firebird. I noticed that the spoiler and the part it mounts to was 1/4 to 1/2 inch farther back than it should have been. I could see that the last people who owned it did a bad job putting it on. So i took it to a body shop and had them re-seal it and move it back to where it should be. And no more leaks. My t-bar was also leaking along the grove of the hatch. Water leaking in from the inside really rust out a car.

I have already read the link you have posted 89V6FBIRD. The problem is that it didn't help. Plus you showed that pic of the glass meeting the hatch deck. I already put silicon down in there. That didn't help. Any other suggestions.

This is a crappy way, but remove as much trim as you can, then youself and assistant take to car wash. you sit inside and look while other sprays.
I did this on my cavalier hatchback(first car) and found it was where the glass meets the deck shown in that picture.

I actually prefer to use a strip of butyl tape in this situation. If you ever need to remove the rear panel from the glass (to reseal it, or re-align it), you'll play hell trying to get it off or move it, if you use silicone sealer.

Well, it's actually a very sticky, pliable 3/8" diameter material that comes coiled like a rope. It's what they use to install windshields on cars (without air bags). It's available at most auto parts stores. The rear panel needs to be removed from the glass to to replace the existing seal with the butyl tape. It also needs to be stretched out to make it thinner when installing it (about 3/16" or so).
