Custom Triple guage pod....Done!
I'm done. I finished my guage pod. I designed it to look like it belongs there. It holds (3) 2-1/16 guages and uses the underdash light hole for wires so no drilling to hide wires/vacuum tubes. It's matte black styrene (similiar to dash material) and cost me 60 bux for the first one. I can hopefully get them cheaper if the interest is there. Let me know what you think of it.

I designed it. I forgot to mention I used (3) autometer angle rings also, so I didnt' design those parts obviously. I didn't assemble it though, the bottom of the pod is actually heat bent and then it's all bonded together (3) pieces, front, top and bent cover with a ss240 bonding agent.

Thats the same place I got my 3 Pod Mounted, I got the black panel w/ white face guage kit from Sun. Looks real nice. I didnt want the chrome so I had to go with smaller guages, But I like how it looks, I'll see if I can get some pics!

Are those hard to see? It sure looks like they are...What do they control? Temp or something? Do they light up at night? If so what color? Like to hear more info.

My guages aren't hard to see. I was going to use Autometers 3 guage mounting face BUT you would be able to see everything if I used that, so I designed and manufactured my own closure. My guages are oil pressure, air fuel ratio and boost pressure (for my P1SC). They guages sit on autometers angle rings and are just right so if I just glance above my stereo I see the faces fine. The picture makes them look like there hard to see because I used a flash....they're phantom guages and light up with the red bulb booty...

One more thing...I'm in the process of designing more 2 and 3 guage closures for the center console. They would mount on the sides (carpet is there now) I'd design them so you would have remove a bit of carpet but I'd also make sure the design was able to be carpeted so you could match the "console pod" to your carpet color or keep it matte black.

any of my experiences with wiring I've never had to put holes in anything...except the a-pillar for my dual guage pod. For my dash guages I've used a really strong double sided tape from 3M. Never had any issues with it not sticking.

Nice job guys. I thought that I would post a pic of how I have my gauges installed in my car also. The custom "radio delete" and shift console "ash tray delete" plates were made from 1/8" 6061-T6 aluminum plate:

MCM, I have to say that looks sweet man. Do you happen to still have drawings (plans)? I wouldn't mind making something like that up in plastic.

No I don't. I just used the original bezels as templates, and outlined them directly on to the aluminum plates.
