dash

As some of you may now, last spring I swapped my camaro's dash out for one from a firebird. Well, I guess I liked it at the time, but right now I really miss my old dash. Anyways, I still have the full camaro dash and want to put it back in. Simple, a couple hours of unbolting and bolting back up. Problem is, I lost the two wire connectors that go to the back of the gauges (the plugs) because I cut the ones from the camaro off, and rigged up the firebird ones. Anyways, I don't want to go through the hassles of figguring out which wire does what and goes where, so I just want to be able to get the exact ones that should be in my car, so all the wires match up. Now, I have a '91 z28 vert with a 305 TPI and a 5 speed. Anyone have any idea what cars I should be looking in? Probably another '91 305 5 speed I'd guess.

Please, I really need someone who knows what they're talking about.....

You should be able to get the harness plug from any 90-92 car. Autos generally have the 'upshift' light in them, just unused. The only variance I know of in prior years (aside from thr v6/v8 tach part) was the 'brake' light (and maybe seatbelt, don't remember) was located on different sides of the cluster.

thanks...
So it doesn't matter what engine it has? I mean, all the tach/speedo wires would plug into the same place anyway? Basically, I just want the wire colors in my car to match up to the wires comming out of that harness when I ..."detatch" it from a car in the boneyard.

The easiest to find that will bolt right in and plug up will be a 91-92 V6 car dash and harness from a 5 speed car, though some of the auto cars got a harness with both connectors, you can check for the clutch switch connector up in the drivers side by the pedals around in there, a 90 will have a different tail light connector, a tbi car one would work but you will need to do a little wire changing to remove the buffer box...

Maybe I'm reading wrong but, he just needs the cluster harness plugs to replace the ones he chopped off when he put the 'bird cluster (w/dash) in, nothing else ?

I usually dont like leaving hacked up wiring, so I figured i'd post what he can bolt in there to restore the car properly.

I agree with you 100%, I'm the same way. I was just going off these key phrases (to me anyways)...

That's why I want the exact plugs. I mean, if everything matches, the wires are just going to be soldered and electrical taped at the plugs, thats it. All the colors will be matching. It's not really hacked up
