i was just curious how this was accomplished because i have seen the finished product and it looks awesome. nothing against bondo(i use it too). any pics mayb?

im talking about gettting rid of rust by grinding and welding in metal

you don't actually grind the rust off unless it is suface rust. if you are talking about patching a panel, you have to cut the metal out. then weld in a new patch panel. then smooth it out with body filler. there is alot more to this process than what i said. i just wanted to give you a basic view of what needs to be done. i would not reccommend that a beginner tries this. as for body filler, theres nothing wrong with it when used right. when put over rust it might(if your lucky) last a year. then it will start bubbling and cracking.

patching a panel is what im talking about thanks. im sure its a long and vigorous process, i was just curious on the subject

Me and my dad did some of that on a '83 Chevy S-10 Blazer we used to own. Its quite a bit of work, you definately have to know what your doing for it to turn out well...
