How to take off doors?

How do you take the doors off? Is it pretty simple or hard? I have a parts car that has power windows and door locks so I want to put them on my 83. Any tips and suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

Unbolt the top three bolts, then on th bottom you take the spring off, you need a small spring compressor, thne there is a small lock on the pin you need to pop off, once thats done, pull the pin out sand you got your door off. But make sure you take the door pannel off, and take the harness out through the hold on the front....

yeah or you can just not bother with the springs and pins, and just remove the inner kick panel and access the lower hinge bolts that way. when you put it back on, the top hinge that has the three bolts, needs the bolt that is closest to the fender in first. otherwise it is a pain to tighten it.

so if I just remove the kick panel on the interior of the car i can access those bolts? That seems like an easier way.

Yep, there might be a dust cover or something that is behind your inner kick panel, just scrape that off. The hardest bolt will be the one on the lower hinge closest to the fender, because you have to reach your arm through the fender to reach it. good luck.

I just took mine off to paint the car, the easiest way is the first way described, undo the three bolts on the top hinge, and pop the spring and pin off the bottom hinge. Its a pain to get the three bolts off the bottom hinge. just pop your spring out, and hammer out the pin.

I work at a body shop, and thats how we do doors, so i presume you should too, becuase if you move around the bottom hinge thats bolted tot he car, youll never get them to line up good...

just remove the bolts on the hinge, it'll be alot easier and it's not very hard to align it, all you do is you don't tighten the bolts down all the way before you stop and check the body lines and gaps.

Great! Im glad you located in CA too that way I get it fast. I just placed an order for the tool and 2 lower hinge pins. As soon as I get my new doors on I can finally install my alarm!

Spray with KROIL penetrating oil. I've had to cut some lower hinge pins in half with my Dremel tool and anbrasive metal cutoff blade, then pry out the two pieces.
