I have an 83 Parts car camaro, its pretty low on the rust area, since it was from Missouri, but its workable, and there is no rust on the panels, but its wrecked ...

So I got a new Program for my PC, and I wanted to learn how to use it, so for my first project was to make a 3D car, it was ambitious for being my first attempt at any kind of 3D drawing...

BUT, I am thinking about body panels, and taking my 83 Camaro, and turning it into a roadster...

What do you think?

It has a bit of an SSR look to the front... looks awesome. the rear is nice too. It looks like a really nice clean design. Now the hard part, to make it a reality By the way, what program did you use to do that and how long did it take you?

As for similarity from the SSR, it should, I had a few cars in mind when I desingned it...

The Front, I really took the SSR idea and combined it with a third Gen Camaro Front. The headlights were from the Full size Silverado, I like the angular look of them that makes it look "Angry" The Tailights were an idea from the current Impala, I figured that back in the early 70's the Camaro had round tailights, and that seems to be the current Chevy trend...

I considered putting some air extractors, or something on the sids of the car, But then I looked back in my books, the Camaro never had anything on the doors, or fenders, they were all pretty simple, I wanted to keep that in my idea.

The interior is all my own, I really did not have anything in mind...

I really wanted it to be different , not too radical, and feasable enough that it would look like a real car... Foir example the "Rat Fink" car drawings are "Cool" but there not practical... I wanted to take what I thought were the current Chevy trends, and look back to try and develop something that could be a future possibility... I like it enough, that I thought about taking my wrecked 83 Camaro and making some body and interior panels...

Now I should make a Pontiac... maybe a Buick....

Well, if thats what ya wanna do, go for it, but I always say if you want a car to look like something else, you'd be better off just buying the car your thinking about.

Where could I buy one... enlighten me please.

If your referring to an SSR, its similar to, but almost nothing like it.

Go for it, anything is possible. Check this out, there's an 80's Caprice under this thing;

i still say it looks kick ***, just like the interior of your formula! One think you overlooked is the side mirrors. I'd suggest trying out a 1st gen camaro, 2nd gen firebird, or c5/c6 vette (which I believe is the same as the SSR) side mirrors. And if you're still using the 3rd gen doors, you'll need that little black triangle in front of the glass

If I may offer my .02

I say get rid of the front, just don't make it look like an SSR and the rear, just don't make it look like a corvette.......You have a good idea, just needs a few minor touches so that it doesn't look like you are trying to copy a production car, gives it that "kit car" feeling, and kit cars are not cool.......

#1 It does look very much like an SSR from the front. The slope of the nose and the new chevy bar going from one side to the other makes it look like the SSR. Not to mention the Yellow.

Top down, and other angles makes me think that someone likes the new Caddy XLR!!
seriously look at the new Ferrari Scaglietti 612 for front end design. It will give it that early 2nd gen style almost. Most every other angle on this car looks XLR, which IMO isnt a bad thing as the XLR is the hottest thing to come out of Caddy in a long time. CTS-V also makes my pants feel funny. :hail: the CTS-V

if you are able to put a car like that together I commend you on your ambitious project BUT whatever you do don't insult the Camro by placing Camaro badges on the car. it looks nothing at all like a Camaro. Camaro's never have had body lines like that nor have they ever had tail lights like that. putting Camaro emblems on that car would just not look right at all. if you want to do something like that and have Camaro emblems on it then try and make it look more retro 1st gen rather than a mix of ???? whever you saw in your last issue of Motor Trend.

camaros did have tail lights kinda like that, beginning 2nd gen... i like the whole idea, but i think that if you took the front end from a early 70s camaro and played with that it would look better, and if the roof was chopped and windshied layed back, then it would look awesome!

.....actually, it does have quite a hot-rod feel to it. Ya know, i kinda like it....but it's just not a Camaro.

Honestly, it just looks like you took camaro badges and corvette taillights and slapped them on a rounded out mustang. I have to give it my official :nono:


But if its what you want, go for it. You better have a good body shop in mind.

I like it. I would ad the 1970`1/2 split bumper look to the front on the ssr look.

If somebody is willing to do that much custom work, I think they should try to build this 5th Generation concept. It is actually a pretty interesting article.

To be honest I have seen that popular hotrodding, and to be honest I really like it. I think its cool looking.

WHAT I really do NOT like about it is there is only a little creativity in the concept, Sure, he took a 67-69 Camaro and essentially updated the look of it, but I really think he could have done better. The car looks like a camaro because he copied alot of the basic shape of the early cars.

What I set out to do is to take a look at where the automotive industry is going, specifically Chevrolet, and not try to use past designs to heavily influence my design. I think there is something to be said about taking current ideas and trends and try to make something new.

I know about the windshield, lack of rear view mirrors etc...

Personally I think the guy was right on track with where the industry is going. I agree that it has alot of similarities with the 1st generation, but look at the cars that are refering to earlier generations: Dodge Prowler, PT cruizer, Thunderbird, SSr, Mustang...

I don't know what went wrong with the GTO, but I was pretty disappointed that they would abuse the goat legend.

YOu have to take a look at previous modles and update it, THAT is what makes it an UPDATED version and not a totally new car. Look at the new gto, does it look like a gto? HELL NO because they didnt take the gto body lines in to account at all. They made a new car and are selling it off of the gto name and making a new camaro or firebird without putting something from the older ones into the design would be the same thing.

that thing looks like a crossbreed between a vw bug and a corvette if chevy build something like that ill start taking the bus!!!!
