Ding Repair???

Hey Guys I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to fix a couple of small dings on the roof of my car near the t-tops. They both are about the size of a dime and are not very deep. Looks like it could have been hail damage. I would like to try to repair them myself before getting my firebird painted. Any hints would be great!!

Thanks for your time!!!

well in case on my truck all i did was grind down the paint off and everything( i was mostly fixing rust repair)

then (i didnt mix it just watched) some type of filler and put it on the place...sanded down till smooth which is were i am now on my truck

but i think im gonna sand it finer and finer till i can primer it then paint it and clearcoat

sry if this isant specific enough but its just wat im doing now

My dads freind who owns an auto shop is teaching me all this kinda stuff i normally go every saturday to learn and watch him.

Body filer is the only at home choice.

Body shop can use a puller. They weld little studs in the center of the dent, and pull it out. They get it almost perfect with that, grind off the weld marks. Then put a thin layer of filler on it. Block sand it and then do the primer steps.

Can you guys say Paintless Dent Removal? It's not very expensive and doesn't require any bondo or repainting. If they aren't deep, they'll disappear and you'll never know they were there.

Contact me if you're interested. I have a friend in Nashville that works at the Auction in Lebanon. He would be willing to look at this for you. His name is John and he is good. Let me know.

the painless thing will not work on the dents he has, they are smaller than the pad on the thing. Also its designed for large panels, the thickness of the metal and the fact its only like 8 inches I doubt it will work there. And he is getting ready to paint, the painless thing is designed for quick fixes, not really paint prep.

I'm not talking about that piece of junk they sell on TV. I'm talking about professional dent removal. I removed about 30 dents and dings in a Porsche Boxter just the other day. The crap they sell on TV would not have touched them. I can get out a dent the size of a clipped fingernail and make it so you never knew it was there, or remove softball sized dents. The garbage they sell on tv was not designed to remove dents of any size. It was designed to get $$ from people that believe it would work!!!! It works about as well as a plunger Real dent removal WAS designed to eliminate painting so no paint prep is needed when referencing the dent itself.

If you're interested in professional dent removal, let me know. It won't cost much at all. Probably around $50-$75 depending on accessibility and severity.

I have to agree on the paintless removal I had two dents in my drivers door since 1986, I know I did it myself with the wind and a post at the gas station, anyway had a guy take them out last summer this way you cannot tell in any light or from any angle that they were ever there he also did some small round ones (dings) on the other side no kidding the were perfect (and I am really ****) I would recommend this to anybody
