Racing seats with TVs built in, is it worth it?

Alright guys, I found some very nice seats with built in TVs. They are $299 each, and then add $50 for leather, and 2 pennies for 4 point racing harness for each seat. Is it worth the money? My total will be $700 for two racing seats with 7.2in LCD TV in each seat.

Here’s my order sheet-
Racing Seats with Built in TV's! - Mamba Black (2) $599.98
Racing Seats with Built in TV's! - Free Black racing harness’s (2) $0.02
Racing Seats with Built in TV's! - Upgrade to leather (2) $100

Total $700

Here they are at the place,
http://216.242.145.9//shop//product.phtml?p=197

Pic from another site with the same seats for more expensive price. Even eBay is more expensive ($50 per seat more expensive)

Maybe if you have kids?? Otherwise I think that kinda defeats the purpose in it being a "race" seat IMO. I guess another loop hole would be if it was a pure show car, it would be kind of a neat addition. I personally wouldn't waste the money for a race seat with a tv in it...

the seats i'm gonna order are onyl $300 bucks cheaper total. ANd these come with bragging rights(i will have tvs).

General rule of thumb abotu a car-
"Guys don’t have beautiful cars because they like them, guys have beautiful cars because girls like them"

id rather spend the money on tvs for up front...not behind...and as for bragging rights...well i dunno about that

Not to mention, have you ever sat in the back of one of our cars?...lol It sucks bad. Uncomfortable as hell! I couldn't imagine sitting back there for 2 hours and watching a movie. Well our back seats weren't designed for the other back seat idea either. Dunno man, up to you of course. Just givin you some stuff to think about.

well since i'm getting them for somuch cheaper than anyone else is selling them for. I could easily sell them to soem looser for the same price if they dont work out right. I mean its win-win the way i look at it.

Yeah, IMO the TV's are kinda tacky. Of course if the car is a full on custom job it's one thing, but can't you get them without the TV's?

Whoever said that was spoiled as a child and needs to be slapped.

here is what i am going to say

BIG WASTE OF MONEY, STUPID FOR OUR CARS!

1. If you're buying "RACING" seats, what the hell do you need a TV for.
2. Okay, so a TV is cool, but do you understand that you do NOT GET CABLE in your car.
3. Which means all you can do is watch videocassettes/dvds... why the **** would you get in the back of the car, which quite honestly shouldn't even have rear seats because they are good for nothing. Dude, just go home and watch a movie. Do you know how stupid you sound saying "Yeah, I can go to meets and sit in the back seat and watch finding nemo". Gay!!!
4. Buy regular seats, mount an lcd screen with a dvd player under your front dashboard, and then you're talking.

Jeeezus some kids gotta lay off the crack!!!!

alright that might be doable, but in florida you can get ticketed if the driver sees any kinda moving screen besides a GPS. Therefore it need to be hidable when the cop comes. So....

You asked for people's opinions and they are giving them, yet it is like you are trying to convince them to agree with you. If you want them go ahead. But, I thought that you were going to get a motor first? Or a new interior? Or rims? I can't keep up anymore. Sorry.

That would get a pretty nice used laptop which is much more versatile and, has a bigger screen and, you don't have to use it exclusively in the cramped back seat quarters of your car... just my thought though...

it would be an ok idea, just to have something custom..... but as long as it isn't as ugly as those example seats, yuk look sliek those came from 70's

cheers

Your energy and 'genius' are highly misplaced.....you should be doing this to a Ho<x>nda or something similar; they'd be giving you 'mad propz' (whatever the hell that is ) for your ingenuity.
You won't win any popularity contests here, and I don't think anyone on this board has the ability to crown you 'king of the world' for doing this stuff...

i agree with everyone about its a waste of money but if its the exact same seat you want but cheaper with a tv then i dont see a problem...you get two tvs out of it even if you dont use them. i personally would not do this but thats just me. i also dont understand why you ask opinions but wont take any of them...you quickly go on the defense.

There's only one thing I can say about this entire thread.... OWNED!

But anyway, I say don't get the seats, and I'll tell you why. The LCDs are of the old cheap design with crappy resolution and bad response times... which means you'll be seeing a lot of bluriness. The seats aren't racing seats; they just look like them. Racing seats are much thinner and probably a lot lighter by the looks of things. And the seat covering looks shoddily done and will probably fade, crack, and/or peel their way into eternity not long after you install them. And the "racing harness" they'd sell you I'd be literally afraid to install in my own car for the cost of 2 pennies; I'm certain the cost of safety testing doesn't allow for the tiny price you'll be paying (or huge price if you get in an accident). In no time you'll be too pissed off for paying any money at all for them to take them back out of the car (and rip out all that wiring you had to install) and either junk the car or sell it.

Everyone here has a point that you should listen to: nobody will want to go in your back seat. You'll be spending a lot of money (don't forget the actual DVD player for your dash) for a very small bonus. And safety is priority in a street car... bragging rights and being smart rarely go hand in hand.

yeah, i've listened, i'm not gonna get them anymore. Kinda makes no sence. I'm just gonna get the Summit Racing Seats ($200 a peice) that i've been wanting forever.

Is there a way to put bucket seats in the rear seat area?

ignoring everything else, heres one logical question.

if you have race seats, and the harness...... you need a rollbar or some other horz bar behind the seat to safely mount the harness to.

so:

1. the bar would cover the TV screen.

2. its not safe for anyone in the back to ride since they'll smash their head on the bar.

i dont even understand why they would make such a product........ and before someone says "show car"... would any decient show car have the same ultra cheap seats as everyone else?

nay...

I was going to state the same thing that BadBowtie88 did....but like.....he uh, already did that?!?! To be honest with you bro, it's a cool concept if you have a car with a longer back end that you figure you'll use on moderate to long drives, AND that theres both ample head room and leg room as stated earlier.

Also, it's a third gen....it already screams "80's muscle car"...so SOME of the new tech available is great for it, but personally if I ended up next to a guy or girl with those in their third gen, my thoughts would be along the lines of " ...and he/she wasted money on seats with TV's instead of performance or other items??! <followed by a huge screaming of> WTF!!!!"

Honestly though...a good racing seat is about 400 bucks(Sparco, Corbeau, Recaro). For a great seat it will be even more. Leather is always like a $500 option...Sounds like a really bad rip off. Considering those type of monitors are like $500-1000 a piece.
