It's possible to open the hood by sticking your hand up from under the car and moving the latch mechanism while you or someone else pulls up on the hood. I've done this a few times sticking my hand through the grill on my old camaro.

Depends on what car you have or the year but T/As and firebirds there's the pull the handle and lightly tap a foot from the front of the hood(in the center) or after you pull the cable lift up on the hood. With a camaro you can do the hood tap thing or crawl underneath and try ro reach the thing where the cable is connected to and push it and hopefully that'll work.

Sorry I forgot to mention I have a 92 firebird, I can reach the cable.. and I can reach the cable and the little handle that gets pulled when you open it.. and I played with those forever.. but got nothing.. hopefully knowing what car I have will insipre you to give me enough hints to get this punk hood opened up tommorw.

Well when I had that problem with a berlinetta. I had I crawled underneath w/a screwdriver and stuck it between that cable attached part in the direction it moves( to the driver's side) and the hood popped open, sometimes I did it by hand/finger while I pushed up on the hood as I lay there on the ground.Sorry to say that there is really no other way, that I know of, to pop open a stuck hood.

When you get the hood open finally (you CANNOT hold the latch open and open the hood at the same time for some reason.. I don't know why, even if you have a friend pulling the latch and you on the hood if you think that is what I meant by that) check the alignment of the hood to the fenders at all four corners and then the latch post to the latch itself. It don't take a lot of misalignment to screw up the works there. And then use white lithium grease on the hinges and latch... works much better and lasts longer than WD-40 and that all-in-one stuff. Might even want to use it on all the latches and hinges of the body while you are at it...

Occasionally I have the same problem with my hood. Try this:
You stand on one side, while someone else stands on another. Pull on the top corner (near the windshield). Mine usually pops up after a few minutes of tugging.
Maybe the same thing, may not be.
Sometimes I love it... sometimes I hate it. Sometimes I see it as an added security feature, incase someone sets off my alarm, they can't snip the wires from under the hood (even tho there are other places to snip!). But other times, it's a pita. Esp if I'm alone and trying to open my hood for some reason.
