Its not that bad, just make sure you lay the carpet out a few days before install, to flatten it out. Also, try to order pre cut carpet. Just take your time and it will go smoothly.

There is someone on eBay who sells a complete carpet set (rear trunk area and passenger area) that is already premolded to fit our cars for $150. So far, that is the cheapest I have been able to find it. I would think premolded carpet would make the process a million times easier.

I'd say the hardest part is probably taking all the interior stuff out and then putting it back in (seats, console, etc...). It's not THAT bad really, biggest thing is (like others have said) taking your time. I wish I'd taken a little longer with mine and worked it just a tad farther up toward the front of the car, but other than that I'm really happy with how it turned out. Take your time, make sure you're happy with how it fits before you cut the holes for your seat mount studs, etc. and it'll be fine. Also I recommend the molded carpet from ACC. I used it in my '69 GTO and now in my '84 T/A and it worked great in both of them.

Here's a couple pics:

Before, nasty old interior:

After, new interior (same NASTY old floor mats, but they're just protecting the new carpet )

good luck!

Definitely get pre-molded. They don't cut all the holes for the seats/belts/console, so they can use the same part number to fit a lot of different years and models. I did put too big a hole for my console, and it showed, so I had to "patch" it. Be very careful and triple check all holes and cuts. If you put the seat belt or other holes in just off, the carpet will "bunch up" when it is all installed.

All the interior stuff must come out, but it is well worth it when you see the results!

It's really not as bad as you'd think it would be. I never did one before when I did mine and it went smoothly with just help from my wife(she actually did all the cutting). I got mine from CarMotorsports and am extremely impressed with the quality. I ordered it with their optional extra thick rubber backing so I wouldn't have to spend extra money on sound deadener. I also did not have to set it in the sun like I have heard from so many others. The premolding was perfect and I could see exactly where it needed to be cut because they actually use a 3rd gen body to mold the carpet and rubber when they applied the rubber backing. I could see the actual lines in the rubber where it needed to be cut. They give you alot of extra material on the edges to work with.
