Countach doors
Did you F car owners know there is a custom conversion for Countach style doors?? I found the guy listing on eBay, he sells a kit you can do yourself for around $1400.
I'm seriously considering that, although my own car is rare, I love the concept!

Unless you have big money to spend on a custom fabriactor then I wouldn't do it. It would be way too much money. Also are doors are VERY heavy and I don't know if anything would uspport them. This job isn't something that the average joe could do. My buddy is a fabricator at Detroit Speed and Engineering and I showed him this concpet and he said it would a lot of money to fabricate it up. Don't get me wrong you may or may not be able to do it, but I know I would never attempt it.

Obviously as a previous owner of generously equipped GM coupes, I know what you mean, however, the price of the kit with everything you need is $1400 and that's not that costly in my mind. some mod to the front fenders may be needed.
The guy is listing his kit on already fabricated Hondas but I emailed him a couple time with those very concerns. He says even with power windows, etc. He thinks it can work. I will be looking into that option a bit further down the road as I'm not ready to do that yet, but if it can be pulled off, imagine the looks you'd get!

this has been debated to death. i think the general conclusion is that there was no way to do it properly for less then like 5 grand. If you want to get real creative go to www.koenigsegg.com the way the doors open on that car is the most amazing thing ive ever seen. LoL lets see if i can do this they are dihedral synchro helix actuation doors, err something like that.

This is a new supplier, I believe and may be a much more affordable system. He says it's reversible as well. I'll be trying to get pics of the kit from him, hopefully. I could then link those here
It is a hydraulic type system, but I'll have to keep checking into it, been busy with my other car as of late.
I looked at the pics from the site, the Lambo system is nicer because you avoid having the doors come out and potentially hitting something, but in the Koenig case, the lift doesn't compromise the fenders. In both supercar cases, you have lighter systems, as well as the Honda, and the glass movement is restrictive (smaller pane) for the Countach and I believe the Diablo as well. In my favor, I think, I have a topless Firebird so it might be a factor.
Hard to invision without seeing. I'd be nice to test the theories with this new kit

plenty of companies making them out there....
1800 seems to be the norm for manual setups where 2500 in parts for the electric ones operated by remote. if my car were a lamborghini i'd do it but as much as i love them i don't have the desire to do anything with my doors to my own car although i'd love to see it done.

I think the Koenigsegg CCR is out of this world. Stock 1/4 mile time of 9 seconds. 806hp!

The CC 8S engine delivers 655 HP at 6,800 rpm and 750 Nm (550 ftlb) of torque at 5,000 rpm. It is a state-of-the-art Quad Cam semi-stressed V8 construction with a 4.7 litre displacement and 32 valves

I have the Top Gear road test video of the original Koenigsegg CC8S if anyone is interested. I have it through Kazza, as well as my AIM account "FruityGTA".
Right Click on my AIM name and select "Get File", from there go to the "Top Gear" folder.

Yes, that spec seems like the far end for V8s, but Road and Track pitted a Saleen S7 with mid-ship V8 as well against Lambo's Murcielago. It came up short, but the fact those cars are barely street cars and have little weight also is a factor.
I agree I'd like to see some F cars employ the kits. I think there is the possibility to use lighter doors fabricated custom, but cost is always a factor for that.
Hopefully I hear back from the guy, he didn't send me pics
