Pedal Covers

I have the brake and clutch pedals out of a 4th gen car, and the stock third gen gas pedal. Should I order 4th gen or third gen pedal covers, or does it not matter? I thought they were the same.

i would say neither unless your hell bent on it. you really should replace pedals with pedals. covers often times work themselves loose when you least want them too.

just not a good idea even though the can look nice.

I was going to get some of the machined aluminum ones to replace the rubber on there now. They claim that they will never slip. Not the crap they have at Autozone or anything like that.

Pedal covers

Is the 4th gen gas pedal plastic like the third gen? (ie, no rubber cover over a metal pedal)

Since you need to get the 4th Gen set-up anyway, go ahead and order it and you should be able to get the gas pedal to fit on the 3rd Gen one......

I don't think anything looks better than the rubber pads.

Yeah, I have to agree - If I were to get a set, I'd want some nice ones like those, but can think of a LOT of ways to spend that $100 somewhere else in the car that would do a lot more than just bling bling by my feet

If you do it right. You can make them so they wont slip off.Heres mine i got off ebay.Modified so they stay put.The only thing i dont really like is the (type R) logo on the pedals.

Here are 3 pics of the back of the brk pedal & 1 of the gas pedal. The triangular brackets i made & welded to the back of the gas pedal & the stcok backing plate of the brk pedal.I also drilled holes to the brake backing plate. So they align with the pedal.I used the retainers from the kit to hold them it in place.

Here are 4 more of the gas pedal.Again i made 2 brackets that are shaped like the back of the stock pedal.I welded them to the back of the new pedal at the same angle as the original. This put them on each side of the accelerator rod.I cut part of the retainers that came in the kit & welded them to the brackets i made.I drilled 2 holes(offset) so the pedal is tilted up at the trans side(like the original is)so it doesnt rub against the carpet.I used 2 bushing in the holes i drilled so the stock pin fits smoothly & also holds the factory spring in place. This way the pedal pivots just like the original did.BTW all this can still be return to stock.
