Does any one have a pic of the factory orange mettalic that was offered in the late 80's?

Check out the pic's at my link. The color was called medium orange metallic, it is almost identical to the sunset orange used in the 2001 and 2002 Camaro. GM ran the color for one year only ,1988, and GM only produced it in 3,010 cars. There are couple of other of guys on the board with 88's that the also have cars in this color. But most them have died off.

Thats what i needed. Thank you for the pic. I'm picking an up 88 Formula body on Sunday . After seeing that my mind is made up on what color to paint the car.

Just in case you need it the GM paint code is WA-9538. Give that code to the body shop you want to have paint your car and they should be able to match the color.

Good luck with the paint job. Post some pic's when she is all done. You will not be disappointed I turn a lot of heads with my car just because of the color.

 

If you are looking for copper/burnt orange metallic, you may want to see Sunset Orange Metallic in real life. I have seen it many times here and in direct sunlight it looks great, but in shady or "less light" situations it turns too much red for my tastes.

There's a color on like 1998 Dodge Rams... I don't have the color name but its the PERFECT metallic orange.

I alwasy get harassed because i clean my car so much, neighbors tell me i'm gonna wash the paint right off one of these times, but it all pays off when u get complements which i get all the time! Thanks guyz!

the color for the dodge's is called "Amber Fire". That's the color on my Wrangler, and I love it.

Yeah the Dodge color is called Amber Fire as WhiteBlaze said. I HAD a 2001 Dodge Dakota that color, but wrecked it about 6 months later. The color looks REALLY good when its cleaned up, but while dirty its kinda a copper/brown color. But ive always told myself if i ever got a project car, that was the color i was going to paint the car. I really like the GM Sunset Orange, so i think im gonna stick with that. Heres some pics of the truck....
