I know I know but every other mod has been done but I wonder if anyone has ever gone backwards with the interior swap?

Funny you should mention that...
My 87 TA is already going to be a little "retro" in the engine compartment (455), and I have decided to carry the theme into the interior a little. I'm making my own dash insert that will have the same basic layout as the 2nd gen TAs (but with Autometer gauges), and yes its going to be engine turned aluminum. I'm also planning to use a 2nd gen Formula/TA leather wrapped steering wheel. The interior will be black, with aftermarket seats and modified factory molded door panels.

Don't know if it would work or look good cause the 2ndgens were a little wider than our cars,7" I think. You may have big gaps between the sides.

I'm not actually using any 2nd gen parts except the steering wheel...I'm making/modifying everything else, so there won't be any gaps. It won't be identical to the stock setup, but the gauge placement and the basic feel of it will be the same.

post some pics.
I got a black seat out of a 2nd gen firebird and use it as an office chair. I spend whole days in it at times and its allways comfy.

I modified my shifter to be like a 1st/2nd gen one
It actually feels just like stirring a vintage 4 speed too
...especially since I put the Hurst T-handle on it!

I played around with shifter design a while back. I made one that was real funky [see pic] but it really helped me to figure out how different shapes work.
I then made a 5.0 clone and stopped there.

That shifter was meant to be tall and retor but fun to drive. Like a crazy 50s shifter that stuck out of the moon roof.
I called it The G Money Special. When girls see it they think" Gee, he has money"
Of course I don't have it anymore.
the 3rd gen stuff may fit into the 2nd easier but I had a 2nd gen and don't plan on having one ever again. They are cool but handle so different. To me it was like that guy drive a firetruck way in the back. real disconnected and swingy.
Would be sweet if someone would make a machined dash inlay for the 3rd. That just looks cool. do the radio and shifter plates too.

It's approaching Ed Roth magnitude! But where's the shrunken head? Cool craftsmanship though
I've got a friend in Orlando that has a 69 Camaro. He refers to it as the 69 IROC because the entire interior has ben swapped in from an IROC_Z. He also put the rims on the car. It's really nice.

The owner doesn't have interior shots today, but said he'll get some over the weekend for me.

Thats cool!!
I'd like to post pics of my shifter, but can't at the moment... no digicam. Maybe if I can use my cousin's sometime soon, I'll get a pic up.
