Should I go with 4th gen leather?
My seats are in PERFECT shape...but I'm considering maybe going with maybe 4th gen TA Graphite Leather seats (needs to have power drivers seat)or 1998+ Z28 Seats....probably be hard to find though. What do you guys thinks? I would really appreciate any feedback or idea's...thanks

If your seats are in such great shape, you should have no problems selling them to make a little cash for the new seats
I would NEVER... EVER turn back after putting my 4th gen's in and they're not even leather. It'd reaaaaally be a nice touch to your car man, it's getting quite nice

yup i agree...when i bought my current camaro about 8 months ago, the previous owner had JUST gotten the seats recovered so they look completely brand new. i'm getting some 4th gen leather seats soon, and expect to make back a good chunk of that by selling my 3rd gen seats
edit: especially with your car being in perfect shape almost everywhere (paint, rims, etc), getting 4th gen seats, especially leather, would be like the finishing touch

If I had to do it all over again, I've get CLOTH 4th gen seats and then have them reapholstered. Teh 4th gen leather isn't quality leather. Its nice, but especially being somewhat older, its getting hard.

where would be the best place to get a whole set of them? I've saw some sets on ebay....what is a good price range for all the seats? I think that dark graphite would look bad a$$ in my car.....

well graphite and ebony are definetly the most wanted color, and i think rarer than gray (you see WAY more gray seats than black on ebay, so i dunno). a good set of not-black 4th gen leather seats can be had for between $450 and $550. if you go with black, you're looking more at $600-$750. i'm probably going to end up going with dark grey, just because it's $200-300 difference
there's other places to look to...call all the nicer junkyards in your area, the ones who have all their cars inventoried, and find out if they have any 4th gen f-bodies with leather seats. i called around my town, and probably 6 places had 4th gens, but they all had cloth, but who knows you might luck out. and you'd get them WAY cheaper than buying off ebay. keep in mind that if you buy off ebay and they have to be shipped, it's about another $150 for shipping.
i'd also look in a local car newspaper in your area and see if you can find any 4th gen's that are being parted out. also check the classifieds on these boards for somebody selling 4th gen seats who's within driving distance of you

The Camaro seats are sleaker, and therefore, fit the Camaro lookm a bit better in my personal opinion.
Still, Unless you get REALLY REALLY NICE ones (and expect to pay $$$$$ for them) my advice is to get cloth and have them recovered in a better quality leather. GM used some pretty cheap-o leather for these seats.

Well, I really don't like the 4th gen camaro seats much. The bottoms have virtually no support, and the backs are a one piece design, which I really don't dig.
I drove around a 98 SS for a day with those seats, and really didn't like them much. The firebird seats are a different animal altogether.
...just IMHO.

sitting blind in the car, the pontiac seats are 100% better in every way. looking at them they do not fit the camaro period.
if it were a daily car i'd say go with ta hands down....for a showcar/weekend cruiser it looks 100% better with the chevy seats.
it may be just my opinion but it's all in the headrest......doesn't fit the camaro with that ta headrest. however, it's just an opinion.

Dante, or anyone else for that matter, how much would it cost to recover 4th gen cloth seats in quality leather and have the same look as the pic above from Kandied? I eventually want to get that style and i'm wondering how much it would cost to have an upgrade in the quality of the leather

depends on the quality....i would say roughly 1,000 give or take on options and material quality for the front seats. alot of it depends on how custom the work is.
to go from cloth to leather stock look and stock material maybe slightly less since the gm leather isn't that great. go to an upgrade like prada or better that's used in more expensive luxury sedans and then it really jumps but it's well worth it in the feel.
all depends on preference.

u think the 4 gen seats are better then gta seats ? i got some gta seats in my ride but have not sat in any 4 gen as i hate that style of camaro.
hate is a harsh word....typically from experience a good condition gta seat should be similar to the 4thgen ta seat which is entirely different from the chevy camaro 4thgen seat.

There are two different styles of t/a seats, that might be the source of confusion.
Here's the style without lumbar:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...476905624&rd=1
And the style with:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...477228176&rd=1
Now, here's a GTA thirdgen seat: (only available with lumbar support)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...476958938&rd=1
And another, with a rear shot:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...477240727&rd=1
Also, note that there are two different style of headrests on the 4th gen t/a seats, not nessicarily associated with the lumbar function. The "football" style, which adjusts outward, and the flat style.
Hope that clears this up.

yep pretty sure although those 3rdgen seats don't look bad...
go with the camaro set, you'll be happier if your worried about overall theme. the ta seats are a world of difference though sitting in them.
